Bob, that sounds great, give us a review of the stealth power cable in detail, I like to know what other power cables you have compaired them to? |
Keith, the voodoo adapter arrived,so I tried the stealth on the CD player and the amp, which it was designed for.It really came on on the amp too.So one on the pre and the amp ,should take me to,another level again. The owner of stealth, said I shouldn't loose anything with it on the pre ,if I stay with the same PC on the amp, which I was hoping he would say.Cause it really is superb. |
Hi ,the PC is used,so she was running good after a minute and really good the next day.Yes I really like them,it doesn't do anything wrong, and everything right.I was hoping michael ,had another one ,so I hinted and yes.So another one is on the way.So I'm a very happy chappy. |
Hi Tboooe, Wow!, that took you a very long time to get 300 hours on your cable, I am very happy you are loving the Tara Labs-The Two with HFX grounding station extended version interconnect,As far as your The one speaker cables, man, those cables are very musical, I love them!, I still have a pair of 6ft, I will keep them forever, LOL!, I suggest this Tommy, If their is a way you can audition a Tara cable before you buy, Do it!, Why?, well, as good as Tara Labs Is, sometimes, more resolution is not always the fix, an example, the 0.8 is a better cable than the- The one speaker cable, however, depending on your system needs, the one is more warm, where the 0.8 has more resolution with a little warmth, I would audition the digital cable first, you have great speaker cables, I would be in no hurry to get to the speaker cables, find out first which model digital cable from Tara Labs best fits your system, then, if desired, go for speaker cables, welcome back to the thread. |
Hi gang...its been a while but I wanted to report back on my recently acquired The 2 Extended with HFX Grounding Station. By now I have at least 300 hours on them. To my tastes, these are the best ICs I have ever tried (and I have tried a lot including Nordost, Acoustic Zen, Purist, Synergistic Research, etc). I can characterize the sound of The 2 as organic and very natural sounding. They make vocals and instrument sound so real to me, especially acoustic instruments which is perfect for my listening preferences. Dont get me wrong, these cables also sound extended and crisp without sounding too sterile or overly aggressive. They are the perfect balanced for my tastes. Next up is to audition Tara digital cable then perhaps upgrade my The One speaker cables. Thoughts? |
@audiolabrytinth. Hey I'm gonna wait and be careful on choosing my equipment. Sometimes I can be impatient on getting my system together. The veloce is a great piece I just need to make sure I'm gonna go in on it. Gonna take my time. |
Hi Misternice, How is the stealth power cable sounding?, I know it is early, but a cable should give you a hint of the sound New. |
Note to readers of labyrinth's posts:
Ignore them.
Thank you and have a nice day. |
>>you can very well turn out like me<<
Yeah that works for the general population |
>>you can very well turn out like me<<
Lawd help us all |
you are learning well calvinj, all that you are exsperiencing, I have done many times thru out the years!, I have litteraly traveled half the united states listening to systems, atleast you have not had to travel far out side the state of Texas!, you can very well turn out like me, Im saying, with the exsperience you gather, you will learn to be a top builder, meaning, for less money, you will, and can exceed your exspectations for whats possible in the High-end Audio, Happy Listening! |
@audiolabryinth. Well in terms of the improvement a different price points you would first have to understand that the 3 or 4 most expensive systems I have heard were put together by guys that either have a lot if experience in the industry or have sold and heard a lot of equipment. For example, the most expensive system I heard was the one that had the yg acoustics speakers and mit cables on it and the dartzeel amp and pre was great. The owner built it to suit his tastes and sound in music. He treated the room took measurements etc. He created a great sound and listening environment. The yg were design to give you a totally even response. They did that really well. It's not always about the equipment but the system as a whole has to be quality and it has to be set up properly. The higher end stuff can be mind blowing good. It should be for the price. I can't put a percentage on it. There are a lot variables. Sound is more than just the equipment. It is the room, power, speaker placement, equipment matching, cable matching. I didn't even mention one of the most important which is the recording itself. I believe you can put good systems together for 25000. When you go up the chain to 50000 it's gets better and so on up to the crazy mega system that I heard. But when you get that high you are talking dedicated rooms, tweaks and even modification of some equipment. The mega system with the high fidelity ultimate reference system withe voxativ speakers and the ayon dac was great. It was very natural sounding system and it also achieved the sound that the owner wanted. Great depth soundstage and speed with natural sound. The soulution electronics raihdo speaker system was unreal. It gave you the impression that gave you had endless soundstage and depth. It was ultra smooth. That's what the owner wanted. He has an aversion to bright treble. It treble ever gets harsh it drives him crazy. I'm also in the same camp. I like his system because my preference was the same as his almost to a tee. It depends on what you like. The more expensive stuff in most cases can take you to a deeper and farther level of what you seek. I came to the conclusion that I will keep my parasound cd 1 as my cd front end because of its continued performance in all my own systems I put together. It has qualities I like. I heard two other really expensive systems but they were put together for the purpose of getting the owner exactly what they sought in sound signature. If I had the money I would get the best I could because I love the music. I want it to be as real as possible. Great systems don't have to cost you a house or car but if you want to climb the mountain then why not. A great system is great because YOUR ear likes it. But our ears are all different. My audio buddies have different preferences. There are about 7 guys in the circle that I know and they all have vastly different tastes in sound. The systems range from 25,000 up to 300,000 but they all are satisfying to their owners fro different reasons and they get the job done. But it should never be about cost. If you can put together a 5000 or 10000 system that you like then you should be happy with it. However I must admit that the really expensive stuff is in a whole other world good. It puts the performers in the room with you. It can be stunning the amount of performance you get out of the best equipment in the hobby. Amps, pre amps, sources, cables and power cords all matter no matter what the people say. The better you get the better the sound. The better you match the better the sound. |
Hi calvinj, I asume that the two gentleman that did not like the Tara labs Cobalt power cord did not have a Tara Labs Zero Gold interconnect and Omega gold speaker cables, Here is what I will say, Jebsmith73 said that the cobalt had a bass bump, and to much treble resolution, and Rebel721 said, the cobalt is not a referance power cord, yes the power cord HAD a bass bump, Had upper mid-range emphasis, Those attributes went away during break-in!,, I absolutly give you the truth here, at 465 hours of burn-in, this is one of the most profound up-grades for sound reproduction in MY system I have ever heard in my life!, The power cord is very natural sounding mated with the Tara Labs Zero Gold and Omega Gold, It's like they were made for each other!, I am extremly pleased!, My system has NEVER sounded so good!, sysnergy baby, that's right, sysnergy is where it is at!, cheers. |
Hi Calvinj, Very, Very, good post you did here, I enjoyed reading about all that you are doing, I am pleased to be your friend, I do have a question for you, now that you are getting exsperience that most audiophiles do not have, tell me, in your opinion, If we were to use percentages, How much more of a good sound improvement did you hear between the 20k,50k, systems versus the 100k,150k,200k systems?, some say that there is little to be gained when you spend past 100k systems, they say you get small returns, like 5% to 30% and that's all. |
@audiolabryinth. Hey it's funny how every once in a while people can get rude and snobby of the forums. I just don't respond to them. I just keep the audio going. You either love the audio or you don't. I have a friend who just purchased a vehicle and is selling his audio. I understand how he feels but my audio is here to stay. I might have to go back to my ear 868, classe combination after the veloce but I'm going to enjoy my veloce demo for now. Sometimes audio can be a status thing. For me it is not. I clearly just want to hear the best. Music is intoxicating to me especially when you have great cables and gear hooked up. I have been on a journey the last 4 or 5 months. I heard a system out in Murphy that was great. It had $100000 yg acoustics and dartzeel amps and pre amps. The room was customized. It was sound proofed and had the top end of mit cabling. The lighting was set up to make the speakers actually disappear during the listening session. Really great sound, electronics and atmosphere was really unique because of the abba co da bra lighting to not see the speakers. If could afford an all out assault like that I would be all in. I then when out to southlake and heard another great system using high fidelity cabling and raven electronics. I then went to Plano to hear kr audio kr900. This system was not as expensive as the other but it was very pleasing. Then I went out to east Texas to design audio video and heard raihdo speakers with soulution amplifiers. It was organically amazing and room filling. I went to McKinney to hear the kr audio 900 on the gato fm 6 speakers It was truly a satisfying room filling joy as well. The highs were really clear and the mid range and bass were kicking. I then went to the other side of McKinney and heard voxativ speakers on luminance audio amplifiers and it was a clear and fast sounding transparent system. Especially on jazz. It had the best of the best of high fidelity cables ultimate reference speaker cables, interconnects and power cords. It was whip like fast on jazz and rythyms. I hated to leave the room. I then was allowed to demo the veloce amp and pre amp with my vienna acoustic speakers and high fidelity ultimate reference cabling throughout. I'm using my little vienna acoustics beethoven baby grand se speakers. I'm in that moment when listening to my system here. I can see though the music. The jazz has pace and and rythym like never before. It just fast detailed but still organic and full. I have been blessed to hear all of these different systems that all sound great in different ways. All my audiophiles enjoy your journey because I have. It's about the sound you can put together. True audiophiles are sound first and cost later. Lol. We just want to mainline on the music. We want to tweak and geek till we pass out lol. The hobby should bring you joy. Is it expensive yes but at least you spend hours and hours smiling in your sessions. Enjoy to all who are will to come to our twilight zone and for those who are not. Protect your accounts and cars etc. if you truly hear the good stuff you are gonna lose it all on one trip to OZ. Lol. The system brings me joy not the BLUES. I'm not a Debbie Downer I stay HAPPY like the song. I have listen to wide range of equipment and systems. That are put together differently. I think I have heard 8 to 10 different systems and I have gained a lot of experience in audio to truly understand what a system, cable, speaker, interconnect etc. can and can't do. I have heard pieces at different price points up to 2 systems that are more the 150k and then other systems at 100k then those that cost 20k to 50k. It does get better when you spend more. It can get really really good up the chain but you can can also get satisfying sound at the lower range. If it makes you happy go for it. If it doesn't then stay on the sidelines and heckle. Lol. |

Bob, I just did a interesting thing here, I have some Black diamond racing cones and these other resonance tweek ect...,I inserted the BDR cones under the cd-player, The BDR cones destroyed my incredible 3-D sound, However, These Golden Sound DH squares did do something good!, I have 5 of them, you will not believe where I inserted these at?, The girth of the Tara Labs Cobalt power cord is very big, and the weight of the power cable was pulling down from the IEC on the cd-player badly, so I stacked the Golden Sound DH squares on top of one another, not under the plug, but under the body of the power cord right after the IEC plug, wow!, this made a contribution for the sound, I suppose cables get vibrations from sound too!, everthing in the sound improved and still retained my palable 3-dimensional sound!, Awsome, Hurray! |
Hi Misternice-BoB, I do not have the Ayon cd-2s player no more, It's been gone a very long time,a year I believe, I bought another Vincent cd-s7 tube/solid state player that is way, way better than the Ayon for half the price of the Ayon, I got the very last new vincent cd-s7 in the U.S.A., I only have 450 hours of break-in on it now!, last time took longer, This player is discontinued now, It has two 12ax7 tubes, one 12au7 tube, and a 6z4 tube in the power supply, dude, you should hear this player on the Tara Labs Zero gold I/C and Omega Gold speaker cables, and the Tara Labs Cobalt with Oyaide IEC and plug is on the vincent too!, the most perfect cymbol sounds you will ever hear, they sound fricken real!, and of course all the other sounds of music are spot on, you know Krell inserted all new capacitors in my Krell 700cx amp that was not available in 2005, It's modded!, I have owned many krells in my time, never have I heard a krell amp sound this good right out the box Brand New Like this one is, they re-did the cosmetics to new as well to, essentially, A brand new Krell 700cx amp, tell me all about the stealth power cord when it breaks in, cheers |
Hi keith no worries with any tt help. The gap has closed between digital and analog,For me its nice to have both,I grew up with 45s and 33 records, theres just something about spinning a record. There is a nice vpi aries 1 for sale here on gon, that would look good next to your ayon cd player. Im looking into putting a 20amp iec on my amp too keith,my stealth is designed for the amp, which has the 15 amp iec.Oh I forgot to say,the reason I got the tt for free, was because,I was honest and just being mr nice.It doesn't happen too often does it,a freebee. |
Sorry rebel721,thats what I meant. My stealth arrived today, its designed for the amp,I have it on the preamp at the moment, because of the plug configuration. Its pretty good, lots of everything.I suppose,Ill have to get a few more now. |
Rebel721 said, The Tara Labs new Evolution zero interconnect and matching Evolution omega speaker cable will have NO equal!, of corse I agree, I have the Zero gold and Omega gold, I have NEVER heard better FOR my system! |
Bob, you mean you got a free turn table and your money back?, if this is true, some people just have all the luck, You best thank the lord above for that blessing, when the day comes, I hope we are still talking, and I can ask for your help with a turn table, Now about this Krell 700cx amp, man, this thing gets incredibly HOT!,we have exsperienced this amp in the past, some how, it seems Hotter since it operates to specs now, the audio room is really to small for the heat, I run this amp for 15.5 hours yesterday, it was like having the stove opened to heat a home, I believe I am going to get a battery operated fan to blow the air across the amps top to help keep it cooler, now the amp needs to be a little hot to sound it's best, that's just the way pure class A operates, plus, I believe the 20 amp receptical I have is inadequete for the amp,LOL!, it's a $6.50 20 amp recepticle, I will soon be getting the best Oyaide R-1 recepticle or a Best Furetech recepticle, and input a single pole 30 amp breaker, and take the 20 amp breaker OUT, This will make the amp effortless!, should run cooler too, cheers. |
Hi Guys,
If one of you want to enter the TARA LABS world of PC, my Onyx is for sale! |
Hi Calvinj,I wish I was in a postion to hear all your guys systems,in person. Maybe just aswell,Im on the other side of the world.I think I might be alot lighter in the pocket. Rebel 721 has a system to be very chuffed with aswell. Those grand masters would be breath taking too,I would think. |
@misternice @whart@audiolabryinth. The veloce is really good. The high fidelity ultimate reference speaker cables along with the veloce gave my ears a steroid shot. It have it weight details and naturalness that I had not experienced before. Very pleasing sound. The is combination gave very an extremely deep look into the soundstage with great prat. I'm in audio heaven. There are cable and equipment makers out here that really try to make it better. Veloce audio and High fidelity cables are two brands in high that I know deliver sound in spades. |
Hi there keith, I had a nice little win yesterday. The dust cover on my turntable got damaged in transit from the usa.I would have been happy with just a new cover, They gave me a full refund, so I got a very nice sota sapphire, mk 4, for free.Very cool, a early xmas present.I would recommend a turntable like that for you keith.Easy to set up, theyre great sounding, and you can jump up and down,2 feet from it ,and the needle wont jump off the record. |
Ypsilon gear is just plain magical. The sound is absolutely breathtaking. Your basically getting the best of SET design along with power of solid state. If anyone ever gets the chance to hear this gear...YOU MUST GO LISTEN. Trust me....you may not hear anything else like it again. Super transparent with unbelievable detail, tremendous body and texture along with BASS TO DIE FOR ! All of the best attributes....could go on and on.... |
whart, tell us a bit about the veloce equipment, I know nothing about them, chime in, this thread you can talk about anything! |
No, I am getting the Evolution Omega's speaker cables with the Evolution Zero interconnects. I am not even thinking about Grandmaster anything. You got to draw the line somewhere and this is where I think it's insanity spending that king of money....Not needed. The Evolutions will have no equal which will be good enough for me. |
Judyazblues, join in mate, tell us how your system is coming along. |
yes, keep us posted calvinj, I enjoy you shareing your journey, very cool! |
Yes.The one is a very good cable too keith. An old favorite. Im very happy with my cables.Harmonix golden performance and the onyx interconnects, I have no plans to try and improve there. Not in your guys league, but I like what im hearing. |
Calvinj. Its very satisfying when your system takes you to a new level, isnt it.I havent herd any battery stuff, but believe its very good |
More expensive than both my autos
Aw come on, a pair of used Yugos don't cost that much |
Calvin- I have the line stage (the 2.0 version) and it sounds terrific in my system. The guys behind the company are also good people. |
BoB, A Record player would be awsome, I have not got to that point yet financially, It's taking me two years to get to this point, ouch!, this Hobby is more exspensive than both my automobiles thus this far!, I do believe when I start building my second system, I will have a modest priced turn table set up on that because I will be useing a intergrated amp on that, the cool thing is, I have the cables for second system now, yes, Tara labs the one I/C and speaker cables ready to use for that system when it comes into play, right now, I am focused on this main system, I have numerous tweaks I need to do, from modding my digital player, to top best recepticals like Oyaide and furetech, so I have my hands full with all that etc..., currently, I really want to enjoy music, since I had such a long absence of my system of a fricken year,I am very excited to listen to music, Hurray! |
Hey fellas I'm demoing the veloce amps and pre amps. The pre amp is a joy. The amps go deep and wide and have great detail. Transparency is to die for. I see what they say now about the next level of sound. They are amazing. I put a high fidelity ultimate reference interconnect in with the high fidelity ultimate reference speaker cables. I also have a high fidelity ultimate power cord on my parasound cd1. This sound is flat out amazing. The veloce stuff is all battery power. Clean power with no dirty ac power coming out of the wall. The high fidelity ultimate reference gives it the speed and naturalness. This combination is really good. I am listening to all my music over again. The soundstage is thru my back wall. The decays are flat out natural but extended. Drum work in my system is a delight. I'm going to fight sleep listening to this stuff. |
Keith, when I had my vinyl, going.I would always put on my favourite record on about 3am before I started work. There is no outside noise and all your senses are tuning in on just the music. You get more emotion I believe with a good record.Ive acquired a new turntable, arm and phonostage for my new set up.Ill get it going next year, after I go back to nz,to get the rest of the bits and pieces. |
Good one keith,If youre getting such good results,I would stay with what youre happy with for now.I would like to keep upgrading, but there is lots of other things that make good living. If you have to still upgrade the sound, records are way cool, expensive though, for the whole set up.Is judyazblues going to contribute something positive,Ive only seen negative so far.cheers |
Cheaper than going to the movies. |
@ Jebsmith73, are you out there, hey, I was currious about what your system is and the the cables you are useing?, I ask this, because the Tara Cobalt I have has 405 hours on it, The cobalt is connect to a tube cd-player that has two 12ax7 tubes, one 12au7 tube, and the magical 6z4 recectifyer tube in the power supply, then I have all top model Tara Labs cables with a Brand New Krell 700cx amp that costed a pretty penny to get krell to make new inside and out, I am telling you all this, because we both know cables are system dependent!, what I am saying here is this Tara Labs cobalt is like we got new speakers that cost several times than what we have, The cobalt is MAGICAL sounding on our system that we have, you are invited to come hear your self if you can come this way where I live, This power cord is a Keeper!, me and the wife are astounded! |
Hi keith, are you going to put on a iec on your krell,so you can try different pc. |
Misternice, I got the amp in yesterday!, needs 500 hours of burn-in, However, we got shocked of the very real sound of the whole picture!, I have no idea other than a conclusion I thought about yesterday, this dawned on me like a ton of bricks!, the couple of guys who downed the Tara Labs cobalt does not have a Tara Labs Zero Gold and Omega gold with the cobalt power cord, Dude, This combo was frickin awsome, the wife was telling me she had goose bumps up and down her arm, that the whole system sounded very natural and real, I was very impressed to hear that coming from her, since this is my hobby and she kind of listens at times and says nothing, I will say this, My cobalt now has 400 hours of continous play on it, yes, at first their was a bass bump like Jebsmith73 said, that went away!, then there was a worse sound, a upper mid-range bump, ouch!, I believe Jebsmith73 called it, to much treble info, that went away as well!, listened to all this happen on dedicated tube head phone amp, the power cord sounds spectacular with the other Tara cables!, I am being Honest here, I am very impressed with the sound of the Tara Cobalt power cord mated with the Tara Labs Zero Gold I/C and Omega Gold speaker cables I have at this point and time, we will see how all sounds when all the rest of the system breaks-in competly, cheers. |
Yeah, If you are making good money, I wouldnt give it up either!, whats really weird is that nearly every Krell model series sounds different from one to the other, for instance, it all comes down to personal preferance, I like the FPB CX line alot better than the Krell Evolution and Evolution E series, the cx line is totally different sounding, the other two lines are dry and cold extended detailed brittle treble sound, my Krell sounds closer to tube amp sound, on another subject, The Stealth v-12 power cord you are getting is so Brand new of a just introduced model power cord, you will be the first person I know to have one, so if you do not mind, when you get a quik as you can 500 hours of break-in on that baby, I want to know yout compete thoughts of that power cord here on this thread, cheers. |
Hi,I'd like to hear a krell one day, .I currently have a plinius sa100 mk 2.The second time around for me,I miss the 250,but as I'm not really settled at the moment ,this will do for now,and I may stay with it.Keith,I'm working in the Pilbara, north west Australia,I may sell up in NZ,and just fly in fly out from bali,a 2 hour flight from here.I can't give up this money ,golden handcuffs they call it. |
Lost In Space Will Robinson................... |
Oh man, 2 guys that are totally clueless. Pass the popcorn. |
misternice,That's what I have, Krell!, The legendary modified FPB 700cx that will be here tomorrow!, what do you have?, make sure you tell me what you think of your new top model stealth power cord, 400 hours today, I believe this Tara Labs cobalt is worth the asking retail price, regardless what the two guys may have said, they have a $10,000.00 power cord for 6ft!, you still stay in New Zealand? |
Interesting, only one way to know.Let us know what they're like. There is some clever people out there, hopefully they are good, the price is right. The stealth ,on the way, used to be on a krell mono block,, advertised here on the gon. |
Misternice, check out the mad scientist power cord review thread, the power cord has magnets similiar to High-fidelity power cord, but with other goody's to make the power cord work, and get this, they are from new Zealand where you are living?, or did you go back to Australia?, any way, check that out, I would'nt mind buying one,Damn, It's only $500.00!, this beat out all the High Diamond p4 and p3 power cords that costed thousands, mmmmm, Awsome! |
