Agreed in that no way many could have rooms as shown on Tuneland. I did post on Tuneland that I could not add all those platforms and wood pieces around my room. That may be why I am not getting any help there. Those are pretty strange looking spaces that will not accommodate others in the same space. I bet the rooms and music sounds very good. |
Ok so let me try something that may actually be construed as a contribution.
Unless you are lucky enough to live on your own with no housely or wifely constraints on how your stereo is laid out, a lot of what MG talks about is just not practical. In addition I am not about to add potential fire hazards into my home! Now I do not dispute some of these tricks may have a result but will never happen in my house. I did hear from a member I respect that removing the cover to his 2170 did result in an improvement and again I do not dispute that occurrence. However with a pack of highly inquisitive Savannah cats roaming the house an open cover is a recipe for one to decide its open warfare on the innards!
Now moving on to blocks of wood et al and impact on sound, yes I will go ing with that too, but..... How do I know that the new changed sounds are even close to what the artists or engineers aimed for? What if all these changes are taking the sq to areas that were never envisioned or intended? The question is where would you stop? What is the goal? How far do you think is needed to "walk the walk"?
Just some thoughts..... |

I can certainly understand how Carl Tutz or whatever his name is could fit into someone’s lifestyle. Especially is that lifestyle consists of sitting around listening to music all day long in an undershirt drinking beer. One imagines he would employ empty beer bottles as Helmholtz resonators scattered nonchalantly around the room.

Pop quiz Oh boy! 😀
Define “realistic approach.” Multiple choice.
1. Something easily acceptable to a clean slate or pseudo skeptic.
2. Something acceptable to someone who actually gave up on audio a long time ago who who thinks most ordinary people would agree with.
3. Something easily understood by folks with a GED or English majors.
4. Something perpetrated by Books on How to Improve your Sound.
5. An approach supported by AES.
6. All of the above
Perhaps a prize for the winner...hmmmmm?
|
I too actually researched Carl Tatz, interesting to say the least.
And don't worry about Katie, he likes to blow hot and cold and needs a punching bag to get through the day.
And as for examples of the QUEENS English, I find that all too funny.
|
After handymann mentioned Carl Tatz, I looked him (Carl Tatz) up on the Internet. He seems to have more realistic approach than what we have seen elsewhere.
"You cannot create something as intimate as a home screening room without understanding how it fits in with the client’s lifestyle,"
Needless to say, all the equipment has covers on and there are no wires exposed or in the way. What he may lose in sound, he gains in livability and potential for wider acceptance. That may be the biggest mistake of Michael Green’s approach to sound improvement.

geoffkait,
If you feel the need to pick on people and belittle them in some way, pick a topic you are good at. Why do you like being a mole who gets "whacked" on his own turf? For now, abstain from picking on minor errors in English writing. Particularly when it comes to people whose names here have no real English words in it. Like uberwaltz, glupson, and maybe a few others. It is embarrassing that you pick on English details and then get corrected by someone who learned English during two after-school 45-minute sessions every week. In elementary school. Try to grow up like many of us have.

The Whack a Mole Special Olympics now in progress...
|
so is it that jokes are your special speciality?
Trust me I expect nothing and that way I can sometimes be uplifted!
|
Earlier, one of the
topics on this thread became Michael Green's personality.
Recently, correctness of the poster's English
became something to pick on. Unnecessary, I think, but if that is the topic of the week... Or, to quote geoffkait, "when you can’t win the technical arguments you huff and puff and try to win the personal arguments. Bring it on!" "MG advertised
his web site here that’s true, but he probably..."
"MG advertised
his website here, that’s true, but he probably..." Website. Comma after "here". "As fate would have it humor is..." As fate would have, it humor is... |
uberwaltz Katie.... Unfortunately I really do not have anything useful to contribute to this thread. But that would put me in good company from what I see.....
>>>>I don’t expect much from anyone, including yourself, unterschmaltz. See, that way I don’t get disappointed. 😀
Jokes? Thought that was your speciality.
>>>It’s my specialty. Not my speciality. 😛 As fate would have it humor is often not others’ speciality. 😬 |
Shark infested waters✌️Michael certainly opened up a big can of worms. For those of you in the south, you may want to check out Carl Tatz. He recently set up MTSU’s studio with glowing reviews. Theyre rated as one of the best universities for Mass Com (Recording Industry Mgmt) in the nation. I’m proud to be a graduate of said school. He will come in it and voice your system for around $10-40K. For those who can afford such things, I’m sure he’s worth every dime. I’ve had fun in the sun today.. My equipment has been turned on for 45 minutes-it’s time. |
|
Glupson You must frequent nicer bars than I do...lol Nobody in my dive bars would even raise a glass to anything here.
And yes I was joking...…...
|
uberwaltz, "Unfortunately I really do not have anything useful to contribute to this thread. But that would put me in good company from what I see....." The company is, in fact, not that good, but nobody here has contributed anything meaningful in a while, if ever. It is like a neighborhood bar. In case you have some free time and walk in, there is always someone there to argue about whatever the topic of the moment may be. At the end of the evening, you go home and forget about where you were and what you talked about. to geoffkait:
Jokes? Thought that was your speciality? You must be joking. |
"Very shortly this will approach the TaraLabs cable thread as the biggest space waster in the forums." It is neither complaining, nor an observation. It is an educated prophecy. From what it seems, wcfeil may not be more correct. |

geoffkait: "Why would the dudes from Star Sound go to Tuneland to stalk MG since they’re doing an excellent job stalking him right here..."
That is what is confusing. If I understood it right, the stalking thought was about Star Sound people going to Tuneland. That ranting and raving and self-promotion (hyphen was missing in the post I am referring to which, I am certain, was not good English) is being attempted by more than Star Sound dudes. If anyone, Michael Green was the first one who started advertising his website on this thread. He even signed every post with the link to his website. It is really not that important, but just to remain fair.
>>>>MG advertised his web site here that’s true, but he probably doesn’t want his former employee and his little buddy coming over and rocking the boat. I’m rarely wrong in these matters. He wants newbies like yourself, someone more like a clean slate. Just my opinion. |
Ooops, another whiner. Welcome to the pity party. 😩
|
Very shortly this will approach the TaraLabs cable thread as the biggest space waster in the forums. |
I said this thread would be fun but I didn’t say for who. I had no idea it would turn into a whiners convention. If you don’t like the way something is going or whatever the best courses of action are to (1) avoid it if it makes you angry or you find yourself making dog-like noises or (2) contribute something of substance or try making a joke sometime. Geez! Ask not what your forum can do for you. Ask what you can do for your forum. Hijack the thread. Do something! Entertain me!

OMG At least Happy Days had the good manners and sense to fold once Fonz "jumped the shark".
There has been nothing of substance besides post count inflation for at least the last 10 pages! Just my thoughts...…..

This thread has never been useful for audio topics, but there are things to learn, if one puts in some effort.
I just read about fish and hearing so I could try to understand screaming in the pool and its effect on fish. This is what is valuable here.

Why would the dudes from Star Sound go to Tuneland to stalk MG since they’re doing an excellent job stalking him right here, you know, where their ranting and raving and self promotion has a much wider audience? You catch more fish in a big pool. In space no one can hear you scream.
|
So "dudes from Star Sound" could not go to stalk him there even if they wanted to. Unless the welcoming committee at Tuneland started slapping them. Which would seem to be far from welcoming and almost impossible on an Internet forum.
The logic on this thread is getting more and more bizarre. People accuse each other of "trolling" while, with their words/actions, following the description of the "troll" they gave to the last letter. People being worried about being stalked while inviting those who they are worried would be stalking them to visit. People picking on other’s language imperfections while making mistakes in that same sentence. And that is just over the last twenty-four hours or so.
EDIT: Well, the post that I used as a reference for deciding what would be considered stalking has disappeared while I was writing this post.

geoffkait: "...and the dudes from Star Sound can’t go stalk him there."
Would it be considered stalking when a person gets an invitation to the place where that stalking would occur?

glupson geoffkait,
"Besides, I haven’t been wrong since 1987."
The calender has been reset to 2018. You have stated that I must be Scandinavian. I am not, as we have discussed at that time.
I hope this adjustment will, over time, help you gain some much-needed credibility.

Ah, the pupil uses the teacher’s thread to rant and rave and promote his rather backward ideas at every opportunity. Ooops, I hope I’m not a baiter. 😳
|
Or, maybe some members don't like being stalked by angry axe to grind type of folks. |
@geoffkait - again… Uh, most likely he uses a different moniker over there. You know, so guys like yourself and the dudes from Star Sound can’t go stalk him there. Just a hunch. GK, we dudes call the bull as we see it! Sorry in that your hunch is NOT correct. We would never lower ourselves to play the public or question anyone by using a false moniker but we believe Prof is on the right track towards discovering why others here remain in hiding. Our history speaks for itself as there is no need to falsify anything we present as public disclosure. We have no issues taking the personal hits where unlike others, our dudes refuse to file complaints. Say what you will as defending our technology is much easier for us now compared to twenty years ago. >>>>Oh brother! Here come the word games. Directly coupled. Yuk, yuk! Well, I guess all seismologists can’t be geniuses. Besides, I haven’t been wrong since 1987. Wow mistake free since 1987 - Is that the year NASA gave you the shoe? I see. Nothing at all to do with audio systems and seismic vibration. Oh, I almost forgot! You dudes don’t think isolation is possible.
Isolation is not possible in real world applications - you know Geoff, the real world as in modern day planet Earth… Isolation is a technique, one of many techniques applied to audio however we live on the planet so everything having or requiring power and function has a grounding mechanism - a footer, a rack, a support system, a tire, a physical structure - something that eventually comes in contact with Mother Earth - even LIGO! We find greater sonic results via mechanical grounding as the key mechanism in comparison to floatation techniques.
High speed resonance energy transfer processes are being applied to audio reproduction where vibrations being the energy containing all the harmonic layers and dynamics listeners seek to hear and feel is used as a tool to further enhance musical qualities. Musical instruments along with our ears take full advantage of vibration so how does one bring this understanding to the mechanical, electromechanical and acoustic levels of function? Our technology is based on allowing a component or speaker to first vibrate as the device will seek and establish its own level of operational efficiency where the highest level of performance is established. We then mechanically ground or open the flood gates so the resonance that is formed from vibration travels rapidly to earth’s ground. This process results in highly audible increases in full range sonic performance. Vibration is sound. Resonance formed from many vibrations is the negative result (a signal clog) therefore we manage resonance formed from vibration. This technology works on all sound and video production equipment, adapts to structural environments and is being used for enhancing musical instrument function as well. Isolation cannot achieve this new standard of multiple applications. That is why we no longer prioritize the inaudible tangibles such as ongoing mini-earthquakes and 1Hz frequencies when discussing sound and physical environments. In our realm of study and progress, those age old theories and stories are now retired to historical content. Star Sound

NOW FOR A DOSE OF REALITY: Jf47t stated: And yes you have not only been asked to calm down by other posters but have also had several of your posts deleted by the mods for being "abusive toward other members". How did you know this? Moderators do not explain or display their actions. SO again - How Did You Know the Exact Reason for Profs’ Posts Being Deleted? How could anyone know that was the reason, unless………….💡!!! GUILTY AS CHARGED Sincerely, Robert |
Something got your many posts deleted prof. As well the Starsound posts and the kosst posts. Anyone can scroll through the pages and see this is the case, so don't be "fake". That's reality and documented. I tTotally disagree with jf47t or whoever you are. Like Prof has disclosed previously:
‘Someone’ and not something had the posts removed. The "reality" of this thread was clearly documented but unfortunately a lot of reality has been deleted. The fakes are actually the individuals removing selective posts that impair their egos and/or challenge the hard-line facts. Example: "abusive toward other members" These complaints must be first filed by a member so two thinned skin someone's are responsible for removing a boat load of posts on this thread. Said individuals should finally stop "laying blame on the moderators" and look in a mirror. Personally, I never liked people that play on both sides of the fence. “The Truths” that were disclosed in the many removed posts were the only spot on factors here and not the participants.

Beauty is in the eye of beholder so being pretty is not that sure. Sometimes, personality gets in the way. |
I’m pretty sure you meant from one of the primary baiters. Dare I say master? |
"Uh, oh, it looks like another wave of blah blah blah from one of the primary baitees." Uh, oh, it looks like another wave of blah blah blah from one of the primary baitees. |
Uh, oh, it looks like another wave of blah blah blah from one of the primary baitees. 🐟
Pop quiz - Is baitees even a word? 😳

Michael Green did not bait anyone. He started a thread in an open forum and people who were interested in it responded. He could have started a thread on any topic he desired and anyone could have participated in any way she/he desired. It has been very clear and fair from the start. Of course, someone could argue that this thread was "bait and switch" strategy, but nobody has been forced to continue. Not even Michael Green. |
"First of all I’m not entirely sure “insidious insults on other people” is good English " "First of all, I’m not entirely sure..." I am entirely sure that not placing a comma after "first of all" is not a good English. Or, to quote geoffkait, "when you can’t win the technical arguments you huff and puff and try to win the personal arguments. Bring it on!" |
glupson jf47t, Thanks for stopping it. I cannot care less if you call me a dinosaur troll of the first order, but I do get bothered by such insidious insults on other people that you allegedly tried to help.
>>>>Whoa! What? First of all I’m not entirely sure “insidious insults on other people” is good English but what in the wide world of sports are you even talking about? What’s bothering Gilbert Grape? Come on, you can tell us. 😁
Dinosaur troll? Let me think about it and I’ll get back to you. 🙄 |

Everybody: Welcome to the "faker/talker/troll" club now, I guess ;-)
Too bad MG won’t ever let himself acknowledge I (or others he’s called trolls) may have sincerely said or asked anything reasonable. But he went down the "you’re a faker/troll" route early and hard, and apparently pride won’t let him back out. Ah well....
>>>>I suspect prof and others took MGs words to heart from the get go and responded accordingly. You could say he baited you and you took the bait. In that sense he did an excellent job. Is MG a fish whisperer? 🐟🐠🐟 Is he a fisher of men? 😯

jf47t,
When it comes to deleting posts, how come that Michael Green did not request many of yours to be deleted? I mean, those where you defended him or talked about your time together to an extent that was a bit unusual. I have always wondered about that. You did tone it down so there is less need for deletion now, but, man, if I were Michael Green... That was something. Thanks for stopping it. I cannot care less if you call me a dinosaur troll of the first order, but I do get bothered by such insidious insults on other people that you allegedly tried to help.

Thanks for the kind words, folks.

Geoff. While I appreciate a great debate as much as the next guy(gal), this particular one is sadly lacking for me.
I much prefer the ongoing audio forum taking place in my listening room right now! |
What kind of a thread is it? A thread like all threads that alter and illuminate our times. Revel in your times! his is the only active audio forum you got. Contribute or perish. Please don’t turn this into fuddy-duddyville.
