Streamer wanted

I’m looking to buy a streamer in the $1500 price range. A perfunctory search turned up the Cambridge and Arcam streamers at this price. Any opinions from owners of these or any other suggestions?

Missti,

I’m afraid you’re right.
But it’s good to try and get a consensus.
Just a reminder that you can find a "Google post" with a negative (or positive or neutral) opinion about anything in the world.

Every piece of gear has its advocates and naysayers, plus a whole bunch more who don't care one way or the other.  The only thing that counts is whether you like what you end up with.
Heard the Lumin U1 and not impressed. How about a Bricasti M5 which is about 2k maybe 1500 used.
The Lumin U1 mini sounds very interesting. However, I read a Google post saying that it’s SQ was no better than the Bluesound node 2i.
Any thoughts on that?I already have a streamer (discontinued Arcam RPlay) which sounds better than the Bluesound in my comparison.
I’m using the streamer just to access streaming sites, I don’t have a library of files.
Lumin is $2000.

I use Bluesound Node 2i and a Chrord Qutest DAC. Works for me.

Innous Zen Mini...I hear is good at around $1000.

Just need to factor the control app into it.
And, btw, this topic has been covered here in multiple threads.
@rvpiano I highly recommend the hans beekhuyzen and john darko youtube channels. Very educational. Hans likes the micro rendu a lot.
My 5 year old microRendu is likely the same or better than the Cambridge and Arcam. I think you could get one for $200-$300 with a LPS.

I am dumping my microRendu because I found something that is simply brilliant. I have posted a lot about this already so you can find the links to the products in my more recent posts.

- Sonore OpticalRendu ROON ONLY ($999)
- fibre optic cable ($50)
- SPF x 2 ($40)
- Ubiquiti Networks Switch to connect the fibre ($199)
