Stahl-tek Vekian - help please!

As a last resort, maybe just put it up for sale as-is, no returns. Fully disclose the issue and that the company is out of business of course. Then let the market decide. You may end up doing well. These things are out there and people may want them for parts or believe they can fix them. You can put a decent reserve on it if you’re worried about having to sell it for nothing. If possible shoot a video of the dac’s sonic issue so there will be no misunderstandings later. Good luck.

roncalvert, the tech is just going to have to fly blind. It could be something simple like a bad solder joint or connector. At this point you have nothing to lose.

You might contact Mike Powell from Verastarr.  He knows a lot of people in the industry and he might know someone who can help you out. Good luck.  

Pure Audio have replied informing me that, in terms of the original design/circuit diagram there is a corrupt disc issue, so it looks like they can't help.

Does anyone else have any information that can help ? This is a very expensive piece of kit that is heading for the trash can, at the moment....

Contact Purist Audio Design in Clute, Texas. They did most of the distribution and know where to contact the designer, who is quite brilliant.

I know I have said this before but I don't buy from botique manufacturers for this very reason.

The company has apparently been "voluntarily dissolved", which means that the owners shut it down and sold the assets, which were used to pay off any debts.

In other words, apparently Stahl-Tek is no more.

Looks like  it WAS just another fly by night operation.

It was a $20,000 DAC and will be a $0 DAC if I can't get it fixed.....
