Speaker stand makers - Tannoy Turnberry
I am looking to get the center of my Tannoy Turnberry's drivers to ear height in my listening position. Do you know any great speaker stand builders or pre-fab stands? I'd like to find something in wood that matches the speakers if possible, but metal ok if nothing out there in wood.

Very simple to make them yourself. I made some about 8 inches high for a friend using douglas fir and birch plywood and stained them with a mixture of Minwax Early American and Walnut stain. The cost was less than $30 and took a few hours to construct. The construction consisted of 4 3x3s from 2x4 douglas fir glued together and trimmed to 3x3 on the 4 corners held together by an internal box of 3/4 inch birch plywood. Once stained and sealed it matched the speaker veneer perfectly. Here is a picture of stands similar to the ones that I made: https://www.aussieaudiomart.com/details/649173230-custom-speaker-stands-for-tannoy-turnberry/images/... You could try sourcing a local carpenter. I've had great luck doing that. Taking a look at them, they could use something like what Kenrick Sound uses for their big JBL models: an X-shaped base that supports at all corners while crossing in the middle. You can get very imaginative with this and get an exact match with your speakers. Lots of ways to go. All the best, Nonoise |
