Revel Salons and Adcom amp, good match?

I just puchased a set of Revel Ultima Salon 1's, and currently have an Adcom 555 200w amp. I am planning on purchasing a dual mono amp soon, but I need to know if this Adcom will be ok to use in the meantime. Not really concerned about the sound quality, just more or less that nothing will get damaged. Thanks for any information.

I used a pair of Bryston 7B-SST's with my Salons (with filter choke upgrade). Sounded very nice from to to bottom, especially the bass. Amps are now gathering dust in my closet since I sold the speakers.

depending on budget I would look at some Wyred4Sound 500's, Parasound JC1's, a big Mac amp (402), or even a little bit older VTL model, with a lot of power.

Look for some Mark Levinson amps.

The nice thing about that adcom is that it has the distortion/clip LEDS on the front. As long as those are not lit up you are not doing any damage.

It is a competant amp- but boy will you be rewarded when you get into something really nice. It should be a fun transition to look forward too.

I put down the wrong model number for the Meridian...it's actually a model #559, 7 years old.

Thanks for all the responses, this is a big help. Currently looking at a Meridian 557 300w monoblock, nice looking amp, and plenty of power. But it's good to know that I don't have to rush into anything. Thanks again guys...huge help!

The Salon is in different league. The Adcom will do fine, but I will definitely explore other higher quality amps.

If I was you, I would definately be concerned about the sound quality. Those are very revealing speakers, and they will reveal the nature of that amp. They are worthy of better, but listening will tell the tale.

The Revels love power.
Keep in mind that they will sound noticably better after about 200 hours of use-turn them to medium volume and go away for the weekend?

Just for general info: that amp is hardly the amp you should be using. Sure,it will make music,and if your funds are depleted---ok. However, great speakers such as these will sing a whole lot better with a quality amp or mono block amps.
You should be looking at amps in the same price range as the speakers.

Nothing will get damaged, and you at least have a decent amount of power, so the sound should be decent, albeit not spectacular.

(Since you have not picked your monoblocks yet, you might consider getting 300-400 wpc monoblocks, as the Salons like a lot of power.)
