REL Carbon Special in the house!

I’d highly doubt it.  Too many new variables but who knows, might be a good starting point. 

agree with soix...it'll be a good starting point.  And this means you get to play with the settings and experiment a bit while enjoying the new sub :)

Thanks for the responses. I started with the same settings and had to dial everything back and flip the phase to zero. There’s a HUGE difference from the S/510. This thing really pressurizes the room!

I moved from 812s to specials- and you will need to start from scratch unfortunately. You are in for a treat- don't assume same position of prior sub- move it around a bit (if you can) to settle on final position. I expect you to dial down a bit since amp/sub is more powerful.

Thanks for the reply- Is there a substantial break in period with the CS? I really didn’t notice much of a change over time with the S/510. I do most of my listening late night which makes it difficult to let the sub run at a decent volume. I have this weekend off so if break-in is critical I’ll be sure to get it done.

Dialing it in, I’m still blown away at the pressure this thing generates. Bass impact is incredible. Playing around with my fave test tracks, Tool “chocolate chip trip” and Reference Recordings “Fanfare for the common man” is next level! 🔊 🤯

If I could afford a No.25 I’d find a way to squeeze it into my apartment 😂 I’m by no means a basshead. Out of balance bass is just as fatiguing as treble sibilance. What fascinates me is what a precisely tuned sub does to the ambiance of the soundscape.

No.32=15"@$10K!!  Plebians need not apply.

@jl1ny  break in is more about your hearing getting used to the sub IMHO 😊 Take measurements and play tracks once you fiddle with settings. If you have space a dual sub is always better. If not - fine tune with single sub.

I had dual REL G1 mkII subwoofers, but prefer my system with new mono-amps without the subwoofers. I agree with the statement, "What fascinates me is what a precisely tuned sub does to the ambiance of the soundscape", but better amplifiers do the same and maybe more. I don't think I'll ever own subs again for 2-channel.
