Pre-amp better than Sonic Frontiers

I am looking for a  two channel pre-amp with better sound quality than a Sonic frontiers Line One (that's the single box unit).  I don't need tubes or 'tube-sound' but I do want accuracy.

I'm assuming you already have an SF 1, but want to upgrade?

I've given this advice before. If your unit has the original caps you will be amazed at how much better it will sound upgraded. Talk to Chris at Parts Connexion.  He was part of the Sonic Frontiers team, if not co-owner or something like that.

Those are very difficult devices to beat with modern caps.

Best,

Erik
The upgrade is too expensive.

BTW, I am looking for something with a good remote, and easy to use balance controls too.

A lot is going to depend on your budget. I had a line 1 awhile back and in taking to Kean Deal at Upscale Audio, he had suggested some NOS Ediswan tubes for that preamp and they really did make a nice improve in sound. However, I upgraded to an ARC LS5 MKIII and it was head and shoulders above the Line 1. I have since moved on from that but it was a very good next step. I am sure that other members here moved on from the Line 1 and they will chime in with their not step up.
In my view, the Line One does NOT have a good remote control system.

Thx for the tip on the ARC.

I thought this was clear but I am interested in a different two channel pre-amp with better sound quality than a Sonic Frontiers Line One.  I do not want to upgrade it.
GAMUT D3i better than a few i had tried including the best rated ones. I had tried with Gamut amplification plus a other amps.
rare on the used market for a reason.

Smart move!   I've had many SF pre and amps ... last was Line 3SE+ and Power 3SE+ upgraded to the MAX by PCX.  In hindsight should of just replace them instead of wasting money on the upgrade.  SF was good in its time but no comparison current offerings.
