Ditto on this end. Got my litho and watched the first disc and the special features of the second disc. Nicely done. The sound is very good. Now if they could come out with "The Delicate Sound of Thunder" I would estatic! |

I ordered mine on Amazon.com last Fall I think. It finally arrived yesterday. I've had a chance to watch the first 30 min so far and agree with the reviews above. It's a must have - and beyond the quality seen in the first 30 min of the main concert it looks like there's a tond of bonus content.
As for Aspect ratio - mine is 4:3 and it says that's what the show was recorded in. I'm not sure there's a 16:9, but will it be any better than the conversion your set can do on it? |

i especialy like the audio setup. can someone tell me if this pink noise test will tell me ref level for my system.
at -5dB my center ch reached 85dB on my rat shack meter. my sub was 9dB below their recommended level but seems high durring movies. |
rat shack meter won't work acurately on sub frequencies. |
I finally had a chance to play the remainder of disc 2 tonight. Holy sh@%!! The light show and guitar solo on "Comfortably Numb" will blow your mind.
The problem with this video is my wife complains that the whole house is shaking ;-) |

Just got my copy a week ago, finally popped it in, heard Shine on you Crazy Diamond, and it gave me tingles.. I remember seeing PF in 1987, Orange Bowl/ Miami. Brought back fond memories Try listening to it set to 2 channel... sounds just as stunning!! |
I must simply agree! This dvd puts Pink Floyd in a class of their ownl. When I first heard disc 2 dark side of the moon, I was blown away....after all these years, they still remembered exactly how they did it way back when! Props to Floyd |
FWIW: I have the laserdisc version of this concert and it had always been top-box quality. I was amazed to discover when I bought the DVD that they had re-edited a large % of the concert. In other words, they used different camera angles and re-edited, visually, the whole concert. The sound is obviously the same - maybe somewhat improved - over the laserdisc. It's like 2 different views of the same event. It is a must have for any Pink Floyd fan - including those that already have the Laserdisc! |
The DVD is a great one, especially if you can listen to the 640 mbps audio option.
I'm going to have to recommend the Porcupine Tree DVD " Anything Somewhere" as well as far as recent concert DVD releases that are great, particularly as far as audio. |
Is the presentation on this DVD different than the import (Brazilian I believe) from a couple of years ago? That one may be a copy of the previously mentioned laserdisc. Does the new DVD release capture the "live performances" (i.e.: good footage of Gilmour & company a true live experience) or is there a lot of additional imagery (i.e. psychedelic imagery overlays, etc.)??

Ben, I think it is more of what your are looking for. I had the VHS and the Laser and this DVD is special. Never saw any of the bootleg dvd copies but I don't think the quality of those could compare to what they have done here. |

Thanks. I agree. I got it today. It certainly is a must have dvd. The only thing that frustrates me is the "additional (and unnecessary) imagery." For example, during one of Gilmour's best solos (Comfortably Numb) the camera shots are of the arena and special effects - God, what a waste (for me)- I want the damn cameraman to zoom in on the guitar, not the props. Overall, it is a great improvement over the older video releases from this concert. |

Interesting. The arena effects during that solo are one of my favorite parts of the video. IMO, the combination of the music and effects is mesmerizing. It needs to be seen on a big screen though . . . would not have the same impact otherwise. |

The section is called "bootlegging the bootleggers". It contains footage shot by tapers in the audience. Pink Floyd's management contacted members of their fan base and obtained copies off camcorder masters and combined them along with confiscated videos by security and videos shot by members of the crew. Soundboard recordings were used for the audio. A_L |
