Pass and electronic music

For electronica, my suggestion would be valve preamplifier, solid state power amp.

Valves to bring warmth and humanity, solid state power for the bass, slam and fear factor.

I use a Wavac pre and Boulder power, Focal speakers and i listen mostly to electronica, by which i include deep,and hard, soulful and banging house, drum and bass, trap, trip hop, trance and occasionally techno.

The only Klipsch speakets i have experience with are the LaScala, and they were completely inadequate for electronica, literally cutting off the sub bass region as if it didn't exist. Unacceptable.

It's an EU requirement. And a good one at that.

For electronic music I would think class A Krell before Pass. But then again, one of the best experience I had was with Mono Class A Accuphase paired with SE PMCs… Everything is possible with good pairing.

I have a Veloce preamp ( battery powered/tubes) that I have owned for 10 years and enjoy every day.  It takes app 6 mins to warm up the tubes and sound great.  The Gold Note is on 24/7, but like most european amplifier designs of late, they automatically go into a "sleep mode" after so many minutes of no music where they stay warmed up and ready to go, but only draw 8 watts.  Crazy energy-efficient for solid state

@jwpstayman Does the Gold Note run hot? Would going to Class D be a good option?

I had a XA25 with a XP12 preamp. I was running them through Klipsch Cornwall IV’s. I thought it was the perfect combo for most music. But when I wanted loud, as I imagine you will want with electronic music, I would opt for more power. I have replaced the XA25 with X260.8 mono’s. Maybe not as delicate but for fast and authoritative bass, the monos are much better. In my opinion, your choice is a good one, just maybe not the best for electronic music. But Pass and Klipsch are wonderful together. 

As a Pass owner I think the int25 would not be my choice..I'd go with something with more power ,slam,bass control...just my opinion.

Hi Bluorion - while Pass and Klipsch will absolutely sound great, you should keep in mind that a Class A amplifier is not designed to run 24/7 and Pass amps in particular take about 30 minutes to warm up and sound their best from a cold start. As good as the XA30 sounded in my system, I hadn't thought of the warm up time, having previously used a McCormack DNA500 amp that was never turned off, so I sold the Pass and got something that I could leave on and had that kind of sound ( Gold Note PA-1175).  Just a thought....

Very good choice. I was quite infatuated with electronic music for quite a while and used Pass at that time. I used the x series. I thought the fine detail in the high frequencies can enhance the ethereal and ambient character of much of the music… and the excellent slam and bass performance through massive power is also accentuated. Perfect choice for me at the time.

The XA series are a warmer. It will depend on the specific character you like. You might listen to both series. Both are good choices.

I have a Pass XA25 and it does very well with the electronic stuff I've played. Very authoritative bottom end. It's muscular.
