New Tweak --- Its Fantastic

THE NEW TWEAK

Over the good part of this past year I’ve been beta testing a new tweak, the name of which is "Total Contact." Its a hi-bred graphene contact enhancer that is different from all other contact enhancers that have come and gone for one reason or another. I’m not new to these contact enhancers, having had quite a bit of experience with a product developed by the late Brian Kyle and his "Quick Silver" contact enhancer. The "Total Contact" is different ... a LOT different.

"Total Contact" is graphene based and is not a vibration control. It eliminates micro-arching between two contacts. Micro-arching, much like Micro-vibration smears the sound in our stereo systems. Its the type of distortion that we don’t know is there .... until we eliminate it. There is no break-in as we know it. The sound is improved right off the bat, but what you hear is only a smidgen of what’s to come.

I tested three generations of "TC," each of which was an improvement over the previous incarnation. The final mix was cryogenitically treated and made for a more effective, much smoother application. It comes in a large hypodermic needle type plunger containing 1.5 ml of product and includes a instructional DVD and an application brush.

The application should be applied with a very thin coat to all of your electrical connections .... from your cartridge pins to your power cords. I did my entire system, including the ends of my fuses.

Upon initial application, you will notice an improvement in clarity, correctness of tonal balance and a more overall organic sound. But ... that is just scratching the surface of what this magic paste does. As it cures, the improvements become more apparent. Much more!

There are two real break-through events that happen almost to the day with "Total Contact," one at four weeks and another at eight weeks . At four weeks, you’ll get a real jump in clarity and overall improvement. That’s only a taste though of what’s to come at eight weeks. At eight weeks your system’s focus will make a jump in SQ that is so real - its surreal.

After 40 years in the hobby, and a total tweak nut, I have never heard anything that does what this graphene paste does. The see-through clarity at eight weeks becomes simply amazing. The "paste" eventually cures into a kind of polymer plastic and it seems that the sound improves with each listening session. So, its important that you leave your contacts alone for the duration. If you’re the type of person that continually switches wires in and out, you’ll have to re paste until enough time has elapsed to get "the cure."

The only problem I had was with the first batch and that had to do with shorting out a tube pin in the line stage. Use the "TC" very sparingly on tube pins, if at all. I only had problems with the line stage tube pins. The Amp, CD Player and Phono Stage has had no tube pin problems at all.

Tim Mrock, one of our fellow A’goners, is the developer of the product. Its taken Tim 15 years and several patents to get it right. Tim has "pasted" every electrical contact he can find in his audio system, all of the switches in his circuit breaker box, every contact in his car ... and has used it in commercial applications such as hospital circuit breakers, surgical lights ... and other places where efficiency and long life of electrical components are deemed important.

This product is highly recommended to anyone who truly wants to get the most out of his/her audio systems. There’s enough product in each tube to do at least two audio systems as it just takes a very thin coat on each application to be effective. The last tube was enough to do my system twice and then a friend’s system this past weekend.

Frank

PS: There were a couple of other A’goner beta testers of this product as well. Hopefully, they will chime in here with their experiences for comparison. I "pasted" both of Steve Fleschler’s systems a few days ago, perhaps he will comment on his results too. We forgot to paste Steve’s power cords though, so there’s a lot more to be had from Steve’s two fantastic systems.

Oregonpapa’s $10 tale really sheds some light on the subject.  Not sure whether to laugh or feel sorry for him.  I thought I was insane, but this thread gives new meaning to the word delusional!!
Frank in not crazy or hearing things.  Applying this paste to all crossover connections as well as internal speakerwire to driver connections does wonderful things to the sound.  It works so wonderfully that it does truly amaze. No joke.  It takes effort and some DIY skill however.
I suggested eons ago putting the graphene stuff on all solder joints. Not one to say I told you so.

Thanks for posting in this thread.

We haven’t had a naysayer around these parts for quite sometime. If you check the entire thread, you’ll find that the old naysayers have dropped off of the edge of the planet and don’t post here anymore. The reason? ... all of the positive reviews and accolades given toward Total Contact from other members.

Either the positive reviews have made their posts, like yours, way too silly ... or they just couldn’t stand it anymore and opened up their wallets and popped for a tube or two of TC for themselves, and are now enjoying the tremendous results. You can save yourself a lot of time and finger/keyboard exercise if you’ll do the same.

Come on big boy, open up the wallet, let all the moths fly out, grab hold of the old Master Card and pony up. You’ll be glad you did. Believe it or  not dave_b ... Total Contact will even make Krell electronics sound half way decent, and if that isn't an empirical miracle, what is?

Be sure to post your positive results here.

Thanks ...

That’s just it...my Krell doesn’t need enhancement!  Enjoy the the lube 😜

Interesting. Where did you add the vacuum tubes?

I’ve probably owned more tube gear than most of you lube lovers here.  I know what tubes can do and enjoyed the stuff quite a bit, but over time, I was inevitably unhappy with certain aspects of their sound.  On a day to day basis, Krell has always delivered the best balance for me.  I would be willing to try a free sample of the magic lube, but as someone who has tried far to many transformational tweaks in the past...I’m not gonna pony up hundreds of dollars!  $50 maybe.

Thanks for the rational response.

Take it from me Dave ... In over 40 years in the hobby, and a tweaker to boot, you can imagine how many tweaks I've tried. Some worked really well. Some didn't work at all. Some actually degraded the sound. BUT, in all of the 40+ years, I've never tried anything like Total Contact and the Omega E Mats ... especially the combination of the two products. This stuff is the bomb. Read the reviews by others on the site who have tried Total Contact and you'll see that they concur with my assessment.

I have a question for you Dave ... and I'm not dissing you here at all. Question: If you have no intention of either buying the product or using it, then why are you posting in the thread and what was the point of making  this particular post?

  • "Oregonpapa’s $10 tale really sheds some light on the subject.  Not sure whether to laugh or feel sorry for him.  I thought I was insane, but this thread gives new meaning to the word delusional!!"

I don't think Tim Mrock would be willing to part with a free sample for you, and I readily admit that the one drawback is that there is no money back trial or guarantee on this product. The fact is Dave, some things need to be taken on faith.

There's enough paste in one tube of Total Contact to do two systems, maybe three systems if they are not to extensive. Perhaps you could go in with a fellow audiophile friend and split the cost??

Hang in there ...

Frank

PS: I didn't realize that there was life after tubes. :-)

Need a recommendation for best practices here folks.... as a habitual tube and cable roller (though I have to say my cabling situation is in a very good place now), and a happy user of Total Contact, what is the preferred way to use Total Contact when changing out cables or tubes that have already been treated?

Is it better to leave the connection as is, and only treat the newly introduced wire or tube, or is best to thoroughly clean the connection(s) with 99% iso alcohol, and re-treat like a new connection? Does it matter either way? Thoughts?
@1markr Hi. The best practice is to inspect the connection, and any areas that are missing TC, lightly touch up those areas. <3 That's really the best way. <3 If a connection is left long enough so it's fully polymerized or dried, it's very tough and may not need touch up at all. This is typically about 3 months. Hope you enjoy the enhancer! <3 Please call Timmy with any questions you have. <3 He loves to talk to customers!  Best, Krissy
@mrs_ppt  Thx Krissy, that is helpful... I am enjoying the Total Contact, but 3 mos....that's a long time without any changes to the system, lol!
I don't think TC would work in systems already fully optimized. So those who don't hear any improvements after 8 weeks of treating your system contacts with TC, CONGRATULATIONS!  Your system is fully optimized and immune to further tweaks.

I don't think TC would work in systems already fully optimized.

>>>>Obviously, the alternative reason, and the most likely one, is the system for which the contact enhancer doesn’t work has severe problems. Who knows what problems? I’ve been to the big shows. After a couple hours nobody knows what the hell they’re listening to. And those are the industry pros. Besides, there is no such thing as a fully optimized system. It’s a never ending mission. There’s not enough time left. If you could hear what I’ve heard with my ears.

An ordinary man has no means of deliverance.
Every time I think my system is "fully optimized" it gets more optimized by another tweak ... especially with TC and the Omega E Mats. Example: I've had two E Mats in my outside circuit breaker box for a long time now. I had completely forgotten about a small secondary circuit breaker in the master bedroom closet. So ... I put another mat in there and Walla! Another drop in noise, and more enjoyment from the music presentations.

I can hardly wait for the next "optimization."  :-)

Two days ago I applied Total Contact to the last major piece of equipment in my system- the crossover networks for my 3 way horn speakers. TC was applied to 40 wire connections, the bodies of 8 capacitors and 2 resistors.
I then placed E Mats underneath the wood blocks the crossover networks are mounted on.

Project took about 3 hours from the time the first speaker was removed to get access to a crossover to everything reinstalled and ready to turn the amplifier back on.

Immediate first listen was interesting in the amount of sonic change heard. Dynamics were increased , blackness was increased, imaging was less precise.

Relisten at 24 hours using the same music the imaging was now precise with a sense of relaxed blackness between the instruments. Instrument timbre was correct and rich in nature. Vocals were more alive.

Even after previously treating my electrical panel, wall outlets, cables, and amplifier with Total Contact, I was estatic with the further improvement my system has obtained.

I experienced the same thing when I did my crossovers. Initially, I lost some bass, but it returned better than ever in a couple of days.

For the not so faint of heart ...

So, five days ago, I pasted all of the glass portions of my small signal tubes with TC. Initially, it degraded the sound. What was a totally involving musical experience, became musically uninteresting. The next day, everything returned in spades and was more enjoyable than ever.

I just cannot get over how low noise the system is now. So seamless, so transparent, so holographic, so real ... and so enjoyable. And, I still have all of the switches inside of the circuit breaker box to do.

Frank
I pasted about 4 weeks ago. The initial few days it caused me to think, 'hey this is really nice' and 'I cannot believe what it does'. As time went on I was enjoying the upgrade a lot on my system. Then a few days ago I go' Whaaat', 'how can this do what it does?'. I think it turned my very good solid state system to sounding like it has the great qualities of tubes added to it. I have noticeably more transparency along with more body and articulation and dynamics. There is no downside as far as I can tell. I have to agree with what most everyone says about how good this stuff is.
It is now 11 days since I treated my speaker's crossover networks with Total Contact. As each network is mounted on a board and sits on the bottom floor of the speaker cabinet, I also put an E - Mat underneath each crossover network. The sonic improvement is quite satisfying. There is a relaxed feel to the music, but the emotional content is not diminished, but is increased.

Simply put it is just more fun to listen to the music.

Nice to hear David. I am probably going to do something with my crossovers with TC. Just haven't yet. I am enjoying my system so much I hate to change it if you know what I mean. But, a big but. Frank and the others says it gets better. They has been right so far. So more than likely I will.

Pasting the crossovers allowed for a very nice jump in SQ.

For some reason, TC has a way of initially degrading the sound (in my system) in one way or another. That held true with the crossovers. It takes a day or so to settle in ... and then everything that was enjoyable returns, except it returns even better than before. As marqmike noted above, it continues to improve over time.

Last night’s listening session with my friend Robert was pretty darned cool. Robert dug deep into his vast record stash and came up with almost an entire collection of mint copies of Les Baxter and Arthur Lyman LPs.

Now that the TC pasting of the power conditioner, the crossovers, and the signal tubes have all settled in, these records are an audiophile’s delight. Drums, birdcalls, vibes, marimbas, all spread across the room, jumping out in front of the speakers and way back to the rear wall. Amazing sound and musically cool too.

Be sure to look for the stereo copies.

Yesterday my system reached the 14 day mark after treating the crossover networks of the speakers and putting E-Mats inside the speakers underneath the crossovers. This is a very worthwhile upgrade to your speakers.

Later yesterday  I replaced the Synergistic Research Red wall outlet with a Synergistic Research Black outlet. This outlet is on the same circuit as my sound system but has nothing plugged into it. There was a significant improvement in the sound. Especially the 3-D aspects of the soundstage.

Yesterday I turned my attention to the headphone system’s Maranz SACD player. It already has been treated with 11 Synergistic Research ECT’s, and 6 SR Blue fuses. Of course each fuse checked for optimal direction 😊. The player has two E-Mats on top of the player.

Using the TotalContact product, I painted the tops of approximately 70 capacitors and  transistors. It was interesting to hear the major changes in sound over the first 10 minutes after the application. Two hours latter there was a definite improvement in the 3D aspect of the sound. Overall the sound was neither darker or brighter just better.
This was a most positive experiment.

I do hope you will try the Perfect Path Technologies Total Contact. It has made a significant improvement in each system I have treated. Stereo speaker system, headphone system, and video system. It is easy to use and the results are major.
