Magnepan 1.7i's, which start at a$1,995. Your Yamaha integrated with160 watts per channel at 4 ohms is more than enough to make the speakers sing. With over 50 years as an audiophile, and having bought more than one dozen brands of speakers, the last three pairs I bought were all Magnepan. If you're looking for clarity, dynamics and imaging, you'll love Maggies - plus you receive the benefit of radiant sound because they project sound from both sides of the speaker.
New Speaker / System Suggestions
Hi everyone,
I am in need of some advice and opinions on a speaker and or possible system upgrade as well. My current set up is a pair of Martin Logan Motion 40 speakers driven by a Yamaha AS2100 integrated. I’m trying to gain more clarity with better dynamics and imaging. After much research the speakers that really look like a possible winner are the Sierra Ascend towers with RAAL tweeter or possibly the revel f206. My question is do you think my current integrated is enough to really let the speakers sing or would something with more juice be needed? Thinking of going separates with a Parasound A 23+ or the standard A21, Rotel 1582 MK2 or even a Cambridge Audio 851 W ( or 851 Azure Integrated ). Any advice and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
