My Boston Acoustics Radio stopped working

The AM section on my Boston Acoustics Receptor clock AM/FM radio stopped working (no sound) and the FM section works fine. The clock radio is very old and probably not worth fixing. Most likely, any needed parts are not available. I called Boston Acoustics and am waiting for them to call. Their customer service seems to be slow (?).

Any recommendations for a high quality clock AM/FM radio? Internet connectivity and/or Bluetooth are okay but not required.

The C. Crane CCRadio 3 AM/FM looks interesting. Does anyone have other clock AM/FM radios I should look at?

Sangean makes outstanding radios. I own two tabletop analog models and they are better than previous brands that I have owned including Tivoli Audio!

@three_easy_payments, Thank you for your suggestion above.  I originally purchased 2 Boston Acoustics Receptor clock radios.  The first radio stopped working about five years ago and the 2nd radio also stopped working.  I prefer not to buy a 3rd Boston Acoustics Receptor clock radio.

As posted above, the Sangean clock radios look very interesting.  Thanks for this suggestion.

I actually have the Sangean WR-16 that I bought for the wife as she wanted Bluetooth and a phone charging port and this fitted the bill fine.
Works just fine and sounds pretty good on our local FM stations to me.
About $80 on Amazon or eBay.
wow I also have an old Boston acoustic clock radio same one,  the buttons are starting to not work, shame its a great little radio I understand how you feel. Mines been a great companion to wake up to for decades lol. little gray beast with surprizing bass from that little box. there is small transmission line inside if you didn't know.

The clock radios i've been looking at to replace mine are the Tivoli models they sound really good as well and come in both mono and stereo, also they come in various models with options like streaming, CD players, radio of course etc.  The sound quality is very good for the size.

Yamaha also has a few that are quite nice sounding.
The Sangean RCR-20 FM-RDS (RBDS) AM/Bluetooth/Aux-in/USB Phone Charging Digital Tuning Clock Radio with Battery Backup looks possible.

I do not understand electronics.  I took my non-working Boston Acoustics Receptor Radio AM/FM clock radio to the local Repair Shop.  The Tech examined it and said the AM section is broken and that parts are not available.  He also said any repairs would be expensive and probably not worth it.  I appreciated his honesty and thank him very much.

I returned home and tried the radio one more time.  The AM Section worked fine and I had sound again.   I do not understand what happened but I am very happy that my radio now works.

I guess the radio just needed a re-boot.  It was a good lesson.  Next time, I will re-boot the device and see what happens.
Good to hear for you OP but makes one wonder just how good that tech really was?

I’m Very happy with my iPhone. It tells time , it has an alarm, and plays music!
If you like clock AM/FM radios. I think you can refer to  Sylvania CD Player Clock Radio. It is easy to use. One of the features of this radio that impressed me the most is the multiple audio sources it supports. One can listen to AM or FM stations with 10 presets for each. It can also play audio CDs
Bose makes a clock radio.....oh, wait.....you mentioned, "quality"?     Never mind!
I had a quality clock radio once.  Totally useless as an alarm clock.  The sound was so pleasing that I would stay in bed.  My wife’s 30 year old digital radio that mangles our favorite FM station with static is much better at getting my butt out of bed
Thanks for the above suggestions.  I rebooted my Boston Acoustics Radio by turning the power OFF for 2 minutes and then turned it back on again.  It is working fine and I am keeping it.
I purchased this because it is the only affordable alarm clock that allows me to wake up to a cd.   it has Bluetooth capability and I have tried to purchase speakers for my laptop so I can listen to music on youtube
As per my above post, my Boston Acoustics Receptor clock AM/FM radio finally stopped working. I Purchased the CCRadio 2E Enhanced AM/FM, NOAA Weather, 2-Meter Ham Band Portable Radio and it works great.

https://ccrane.com/products/ccradio-2e-enhanced-am-fm-noaa-weather-2-meter-ham-band-portable-radio.html

“Since the CCRadio’s original debut the external design has remained the same but there have been countless revisions inside to improve performance, durability and audio. It is one of the most popular portables manufactured and many experts feel it is the best AM radio made.

This radio also has the NOAA weather band and alert along with the 2-meter Ham band. More information about the 2-Meter Ham Band can be found at CCRadio.com/2-meter”.

The CCRadio 2E Enhanced AM/FM, NOAA Weather, 2-Meter Ham Band Portable Radio is recommended. A great clock radio.
