Immersed in the Music

Had a rare few hours to myself as wife's friend took her out for her Bday.

We normally compromise on music and keep the volume at conversation level. She enjoys my audio system and we listen together more than not.

So being alone I had rig punching out much higher db levels than normal.

Speakers are Maggie 1.7i s which are slightly titled forward. I sat on floor closer to them and found it more immersing. So much so, my eyes were closed as I focused on the tight punchy beats of a Rush album.

The tonearm reached the end and popped up. I opened my eyes, JUMPED and let out a startled GASP!  My silly wife was sitting 3 feet in front of me stareing right at me. Needless to say we both burst out laughing.

I was definately in my element and tuned out of my surroundings.

Has anyone else gotten lost in a deep listening moment?

Yes, but happily I have a floor to myself and my partner would (could not) not do something like that.

My favorite is to turn out the lights, close my eyes and let my consciousness hover between the music and sleep... just floating in music.

Not in years. When I was a teen and had few responsibilities I could close my eyes and drift away with the tunes.  Then came life and age.  I bet it’s been close to fifty years since I’ve had the experience.☹️

When I get the chance I will. Usually in the evening on the weekend, eat a gummy or have a little shroom tea.

Temporarily achieved full audio mindfulness.

Nice place to be when time permits-when the boss steps out.
