How does a modular and configurable center weight for turntables work?

From TTW Audio, nice manual on how they work.

Pretty dam ugly if you ask me. Looks like a stoner in a HS metal shop class designed it.

Looks like a lot more effort, expense, and complication has been dedicated to this simple device than would be warranted as a matter of necessity.

I use the Stillpoints center weight. It is about 2 pounds.   It was about $300.

It is much more than just a weight. It has their proprietary tech.

A Record Doctor weight and clamp ($37.50 from Amazon) serves my modest needs very well.  It has a nicely machined brass collet that firmly grasps the spindle.

Man, that was a scare. I read the title of this thread as 'Tonearm center weight'. I am still laughing at myself. I didn't re-read the title until I got to the response stating that their weight was 2 pounds! I am still laughing at myself.

I agree with the Record Doctor clamp though. Easy to use.
