use an isolation transformer & plug everything into ONE simple powerstrip that is plugged into the trans.

That's essentially what I have now; CPT Equi=Core 300 at the wall plugged into a Tara AD/6 Powerscreen strip. I'm thinking about something to replace the Tara. I also have a High Fidelity MC-0.5 plugged into the same duplex as the CPT, and like what it does. Thinking the MC-06 would give me more of that. I also like the other SR UEF stuff I have (Blue Fuses, Black PC). |
@tommylion, I own the MC-6 Power Distributorneither but I've never heard the Synergistic Research V8 Powerblock. I do own and use many of the HFC products (higher end interconnects, speaker cables, digital cable, power cords, MC-0.5's, MC-6 Distributor and the Hemisphere). I'm going to call what one achieves with HFC the "HFC House Sound". Seems like when we add a product from HFC it creates more of the House Sound. If you like that sound seems like the MC-6 might be the way to go. If no one answers your question and owns both why not call one of the many stores that sell both and get their opinion since they both cost about the same amount. BTW: You asked a great question! I like the SR Black and Blue fuses also! |
Talk to Alfred at https://highend-electronics.com He carries both brands that you are inquiring about. |
Thanks lak, good idea. I got my SR fuses and a few other things from there. Excellent service. When I’m ready to buy either one, I’ll get it from him. I’ve always got a list going of stuff to do with my system. So many things to try, and me without an unlimited budget 😉 CT speaker cables are probably next in line. |
I don't own either piece but I do have a CPT 1800 and as great as it's been my system really went up in performance when I added several of the HF mc-0.5's. Not saying what you should do, but if you like what the one mc-0.5 is doing at the outlet where your CPT 300 is at and want more of that sound then maybe just getting more mc-0.5's is the way to go. To me they have been the most amazing addition to my home stereo than anything I can remember. Just my two cents. |
As I understand it, the High Fidelity MC-6 Hemisphere uses magnetic conduction to get increased clarity, musicality, reduced noise and edginess, better dynamics, etc. Or, in other words, it uses magnetic fields to conduct electrons that improve the sound quality. Does this really work? I have the same question for their much lower cost High Fidelity MC-6 Power Distributor model. Is the much higher priced High Fidelity MC-6 Hemisphere worth 2+ times the price of the High Fidelity MC-6 Power Distributor model? To be honest, I do not fully understand how the use of magnetic conduction to improve sound quality. Has anyone owned either of these models, or have any experience and opinions on it? Thanks. |
hgeifan Their products work great. I use a lot of them. The MC 6 Hemisphere replaced my PS audio P10. Gave up surge and spike protection, but the sound was just much better across the board. I liked it so much that i moved up to the Big Pro Power conditioner and use the MC 6 Hemisphere like a power strip with MC 05s plugged into it. I believe High Fidelity offers a 30 day money back return policy. The Helix and Hemisphere level do take longer to break end than the straight MC 05s . Yes there is a sound improvement between the Hemisphere MC 6 and just the MC 6. The same would be going from the MC 05 to the MC 05 signature. Yes more money but better sound. |
@68pete, Thanks for your comments on the High Fidelity MC-6 Hemisphere. This product looks very interesting and I am trying to decide if I should buy it. I am currently using a custom made box for plugging in my DAC and integrated amplifier. It has no filters, conditioning or anything else. Thanks again. My retailer comments are: "High Fidelity Cables has a patent on Magnetic Conduction. They apply a strong magnet around the conductor which accelerates the flow of free electrons inside the conductor. It happens on the molecular level. Current flow is basically not more than free electrons traveling through a conducting material (copper, silver...). These free electrons usually bounce around a lot. The applied directional magnet straightens them out to a certain degree which results in a much higher efficiency of the flow. And this is very beneficial to sound applications. "The MC-6 and MC-6 Hemisphere do the same, but the Hemisphere uses much stronger magnets and better quality parts which makes a very noticeable sound improvement over the standard MC-6". |
I guess pointing out that the magnet appears to be a permanent magnet, and hence would be directional, but the movement of electrons is bidirectional ... would be a waste of time? How about placing something magnetic around the cable is likely to create inductance, which will impede signal flow? No? " High Fidelity Cables has a patent on Magnetic Conduction. I have used an MC-6 hemisphere for the last 18 months and most of my cables are HFC’s. The power cords & XLR cables are excellent and the RCA interconnect is outstanding. I just replaced the MC-6 hemisphere in my main system with the new SR Powercell SX because I needed 2 more outlets. The SR is more dynamic, larger soundstage and even quieter (also 3x the price) but the hemisphere is warmer & more musical. I like both. I was going to sell the hemisphere but I put it in my second system with tube amplification, streamer, DAC & a TV. What an improvement, I decided to keep it. Was really surprised at the improvement of the picture quality. My old Pioneer Plasma TV now blows away the picture on my new top of the line 4K Samsung TV by a long shot. |
