Have you tried the contact info @ their website? As of 5 months ago they could be contacted via the email/tel number listed.
One of their engineers Jeff Brockmore, either from Wadia or the parent company, was posting in web chat rooms @ this time (meaning approx. 5 months ago). Does his name ring a bell? |
hello yes I started the hello wadia thread and was wondering what happened to it also? |
I initiated a thread about 3 months ago titled "Mfg's Comments Welcome" to do with product warranties. It's gone. It appears someone in admin. likes the delete key. |
Well I just got my 860 back from 861se upgrade. Took one month. That seemed a little long. Turns out they lost my original RA# and had to reassign a new one, most likely pushing my unit to the end of a long queue (probably the same effect as if I had sent the unit into Wadia without an RA# at all).
The upgrade was well worth the wait. I am delighted! They are actively producing/upgrading/repairing product and from all accounts are quite busy!
The phone number I used is 734-975-4217. This should connect you to Barb who can redirect your call to wherever.
Jeff Brockmole can be reached via email: jbrockmole@wadia.com |
One of my threads vanished also. It was titled "Is deep bass response important?" Other threads of mine that were much less interesting still exist. Could it be that we have unearthed a conspiracy to hide the truth about Wadia and bass? In all seriousness though it seems a question to the moderator might be in order. |
Gentlemen, various threads are "expired" after various lengths of time, based upon perceived long term usefullness. As well, the system flags certain threads for expiration based upon inactivity, or email address being within the thread, etc. Regardless, the thread is question was admittedly worth keeping as opposed to letting expire. We have extracted the previous thread/response, in particular the contact info as posted in that thread:
==== Concerning Communications with Wadia
To our customers and fellow audiophiles, It appears that some of you are having difficulty contacting, and or, receiving return communications from Wadia. Please accept my apologies on behalf of the company. Rest assured that we place high value on being able to interact directly with our customers.
Here at Wadia we have the great pleasure of having a receptionist who is available during normal business hours (Eastern Standard Time). Those of you who have spoken with Barb know how diligent she is in her efforts to provide customer care. However some of the time Barb is away from the phone assisting with other projects. In this situation we have a voicemail system that could perhaps use some improvement. We will work to update this in the coming weeks.
In the mean time if for any difficulty communicating with the company, I will be happy to directly assist you.
Thank you for your continued interest in Wadia.
Sincerely,
John W. Schaffer VP Sales & Marketing Wadia

Quick response Audiogon- most impressive |
Although this explanation SEEMS plausible, I heard Oliver Stone is looking into this. He'll certainly unearth the REAL truth. |
Oliver Stone couldn't unearth the real truth if it hit him square between his beady little eyes!
Thanks Audiogon for coming through!
I had contributed to that same thread, and I too wondered what had happened to it. |
It is interesting to learn something from the horse's mouth regarding Audiogon's thread deletion policy. I did not realize that threads would be deleted on a schedule or due to inactivity, or because of automatically detected types of content such as email addresses.
There have, of course, been more than a few threads deleted at Audiogon's option because of other reasons having to do with content that's perceived as being controversial or possibly liability-inducing. IMO, some of those threads should not have been deleted either, but when they are, no warning, explanation, opportunity to comment, or official apology is given, and I have always found that practice to be essentially disrespectful towards the participating members and the work and time they've invested contributing to the deleted thread.
An example is the recent deletion of the "America's Tragedy" thread, likely due to an exchange near its end that I was involved in, which contained potentially controversial political opinions. This thread generated hundreds of posts, and was originally started by Audiogon as a response to the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01.
As a member who has generally supported a permanently archived and uncensored forum within the legal and common-sense limits of slander, personal or group insults, or otherwise intentional malfeasance or misrepresentation, I found it particularly disturbing that I might have been partly responsible for the deletion of an epic thread, especially one freighted with such emotional and historical baggage as that. Since there have even been past instances where threads were deleted despite each post's supposedly being moderated and OK'ed before getting added to the thread, and instances where similar exchanges on separate threads have invited deletion of one thread but not the other, it's not always possible to know in advance when you may be crossing the line.
My specific question to Audiogon today is, Why do whole threads have to be deleted in cases where clearly only a certain post or posts (often the latest additions) didn't pass muster? Why can't just the offending posts be deleted while continuing to retain the archived thread? |
Oh yes, Mr Admin, Whatch out! People are getting emmm emmm frustrated??? Oh, yes! FRUSTRATED and some of them are even more than frustrated but most of them are still happy.
In any case just talk before pressing "DELETE". |
I agree with Zaikesman.Keep the old threads archived. Delete only those posts which are offensive, etc. There could be vital information somewhere in those old threads that could be very helpful to someone. Besides, it's fun to read through old threads just to reminisce. |
IMHO There was absolutely NO reason to delete that thread. I do thank Audiogon for responding, however there MOST DEFINATELY was long term benefit to it. Wadia themselves posted information on contacting them which even they most certainly felt it was important to give to the public about contacting them, and even admitted that there was an "issue" with contacting them.
I called Wadia today and got the secretary, after being fairly insistant and explaining that it had been a month and i had gotten no response to an email, she assured me i would get a call back today, which i did thankfully. The tech at Wadia was as helpful as he could be both times i have spoken with him. He was a bit concerned that i had mentioned i emailed a month ago and hadnt received a reply and asked if i could resend a copy of the email, when i told him the initial line, he found the original email in his computer.
I just had to laugh when i went back to some of the threads in my history with only 2 or 3 posts that have 2% of the usefulness of the Wadia thread.
I think Audiongons reason for deleting this thread holds the same amount of water that Wadia used that the secretary was busy doing other tasks! Now, if i were Wadia, i wouldnt handle my whole customer base with a secretary that cant help the public at all times. However, that being said, I am certainly not Wadia and they are certainly free to do business as they deem necessary. |
I have noticed some of my threads have "disappeared" as well. Based on Audiogon's response above, I am assuming that they were deleted as they were not worthy of keeping. i don't have a problem with this but wished that they would have contacted me to let me know. I would have printed them out, etc., as there were some I would have kept for reference.
Regards, |
I agree with Mattybumpkin. I don't think it's AudioGon's responsibility to keep our threads but many of us would really appreciate having a chance to print them out. |
