Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord?
Considering the many, many brands of power cords I've tried in my very well accomplished high-end system, I have never been so impacted by these Core Power Technology power cords. Within a very short period(15-20) minutes my system literally came alive. Soundstage opened wider and deeper. The background became dead silent, space between instruments and stage members were more focused and everything sounded cleaner and musical than ever. My highs had a glorious crispness and symbols shimmered. Midrange through my 2" horn became more dynamic and punchy. My 15" bass driver tightened and dug low with great control. My Rel G1 which is a fabulous sub on its own but with a CPT 150 on it is another story. Running high pass from my sub to my Audiozen Noah amplifier, music depth is just stunning. Lower end bass is authoritative and clean with solid grip and impact. My experience with these power cords is truly magical. The scary part of the above is I only have one 150 on my sub and one 300 from my wall to my 6 outlet bar. I still need 3 more to complete my system. I could just imagine the level after that...In closing, I cannot emphasize enough to try one of these in your system. I CANNOT and WIIL NOT take these out as they are that good. But hold your jaw, cuz what you've been listening to will just become real after Core Power Technologies.
Thank you knghifi. So, do you have their version of the Bybee AC module incorporated into your CPT 300 as well?
@yoby ,just replaced cable with Furutech FP-S032N and connectors.
@bacardi
I do think a better comparison may be with a P3.5 as it is IMO the best power cord in the Hidiamond line.
Really? $400 to $2700 not a fair comparison? :-)
I believe that the CPT-300 is still a fantastic cord and with a certain tweak takes it to a higher level....best so far.....
Yes but you're getting what you paid for. No tweak, just replace cable and connectors.
What if you have a balanced power conditioner, would you use the stock power cables? Essentially I'm just using different power cables with the balanced power unit.
If you think stock is "best so far", contact Mike Garner and get the mod. My system has evolved to a point where I can't use stock.
@lak Furutech US distributor is constantly out of stock. Don't know if a supply or demand problem. One time I had to wait 6 weeks for 4 NCF connectors.
@corepowertech Thanks for producing a reasonably priced innovative cable that a large audience can enjoy. Price for a CPT power cable + mod is still relatively inexpensive compare to the competition but with superior sound from my experience.
I have 2 Weizhi PRS-6s and next mod is replacing IEC and receptacles with Furutech NCF one at a time.
Sincere appreciation to you and to Mike Garner. Mike has been a friend for a very long times and he was just here in the office a few weeks ago where we discussed some modifications and extras. I approved Mike's plans - he is as solid a guy as there is in our industry.
I'm very appreciative to you @knghifi as improving the product is all about progress - and this is next level stuff.
I recently received two slightly different power cords. Each one is made with different Furutech wire (sounds like the wire knghifi describes). The end connectors are High Quality Carbon Fiber Rhodium Plated US Power Plug HIFI IEC Connectors (see below). These power cords IMO are extremely good and surprised me in a very, VERY, ... positiveway. Problem is I think the current supply of Furutech wire in the USA might be hard to come by. 5' power cord for less than $250, DIY. http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Quality-Carbon-Fiber-Rhodium-Plated-US-Supply-Power-Plug-HIFI-IEC-Conne...
@knghifi, great to hear... I do think a better comparison may be with a P3.5 as it is IMO the best power cord in the Hidiamond line. I believe that the CPT-300 is still a fantastic cord and with a certain tweak takes it to a higher level....best so far.....
@bacardi , Nano AuAg takes a minimum 150 hours of break-in so had it hooked up to old CRT TV for 8 days before listening. Had in system for ~2 weeks now and sounds very good.
The modification was not very expensive. If I gone with NCF connectors then additional $800 so thanks to Mike Garner suggesting his connectors.
My 1st bulk cable was #308 + Furutech F11 connectors for $400. It blew away HiDiamond P4 on a Hegel H30. P4 was muffled, rolled off, not as transparent ...
Anyone in my area, 01810, you're welcome to drop by and listen.
I stumbled on Furutech FP-S55N / FP-S032N and Nanotec #308 Nano AuAg bulk power cables thanks to @fork. I have 6 made with Furutech NCF connectors. NCF connector is $400 each but worth it in comparison on same cable. These cables are resolving, full bodied, linear and transparent. Whenever I had a CPT 300 in the system, quiet and transparent but had an urge to turn up the volume. Information is missing and volume level was NOT the problem..
I thought about replacing CPT 300 cables with Furutech FP-S032N ... Been working with Mike Garner at Tweek Geek, a great guy never tried to squeeze an extra penny from me. Turns out he has a CPT 300, had similar experience and replaced his with FP-S032N and connectors 90% SQ of NCF but much less expensive. I had both modified and VERY VERY satisfied with the results.
If anyone is interested, contact Mike and demo his cable before modification. Feel free PM me for more info.
BTW - we are also backlogged re our in house order to Thailand and Sweden (I was reminded by my wife). For those of you waiting - you will be smiling soon - these orders are done.
I'm so very saddened to report that we just lost a good friend and uber-gifted Engineer in John Petrucelli
John was a very well know Engineer in the Pro Audio World and he has been our Engineer of Record on our Power Core project.
John passed last night. He will be sincerely missed...
We have a great team at Core Power Tech - that sad losing Tyler and then Scott and now JP... I hardly know what to say. Tonight it's music and perhaps even a glass of red wine.
The Power Core will make it's way to the market before mid-year, but it will be in a lower-power variant (where I believe re-generators work best) and done a bit differently then first imagined.
JP was our 2nd in Charge on the BOM Project I built for Emerald Physics - he did an amazing job along with Olga and Gary. They brought Doug Goldberg's work to life.
Sad day - I will however celebrate my dear friend with music and fond memories.
Thank you for your note. I currently show we have two 220v orders on backlog - they are Hong Kong and Israel.
The Hong Kong units are done - we are waiting for Powder Coated Extruded Corners to arrive from our Powder Coater - we have been told they will be here Tuesday of next week. We apologize profusely for this delay as the extruded legs we have here were deemed B Level. We don't want to send B Level of course...
If this is Israel - we just Friday received 220v 1800 Transformers. The chassis is built and ready to be loaded. Our apologies here of course. We had to wait for 220v Transformers from our vendor.
In either case - we feel badly about our delay and we will send something extra to apologize.
Thank you for your extended patience. We really do care - and we are very sorry for the delay.
Firstly - the Torus Products are FIRST CLASS and really well built. I like their offerings quite a bit...
That said - Balanced Power is the way to go. I say this because Good Power is the FOUNDATION for a Good System. Time and again we hear from customers that tell US what a difference Balanced Power has made. They can HEAR the difference - and that's where the rubber hits the road for all of us.
I have a Torus AVR16 CE that feeds all my gear (tube monoblocks amps, pre, TT, tuner and DAC + Drive). I'm happy with that but as a little bit obsessive ,ha hum, I ask myself if a bit of balanced power between my gear and the Torus could bring some more benefit ? Did some of your clients or forumers have experienced that ?
Good Morning... @bg1968 Many thanks for your comments - truly appreciated. It was also good to chat with you as well. We are really glad you are enjoying your unit.
Lastly @larryh111 - while your opinions are certainly appreciated - most of the people on this thread (11 pages long) have had experience with our products and others. Respecting ones opinion is the norm here and quite expected. We are all here for each other - to learn and enjoy.
Interesting to see a person with 2 post and a person that just joined Audiogon on
Aug 22, 2016
put another experienced member of Audiogon down. Perhaps you would like to give everyone your extensive experience and expertise of the CPT cords?
I just hooked up my CPT 1200 earlier today, bye bye Running Springs Haley. The Haley is great but not in the same league. Can't wait for it to breakin. I'll post further impressions later.
Also it is hard to beat Marks customer service, don't expect to wait long he's there to help.
I got my modified CPT 300s back and after 8 days of break in, inserted in the system yesterday and very please with the results. The mod is relatively inexpensive and will provide more details after more hours on them.
I received my ANTICABLES Level 3 Reference Series Power Cord on Thursday (1/12) and put it on my Audiodhrama Cable Cooker for three days and then put it into my second system on my Allnic T-1500 (300B) Integrated amp, also had it plugged into my CPT-1800. I do find the Level 3 power cord to be a very good value and it performs very well. My Cerious Technologies Graphene power cables and my CPT-300 also perform very well. I would be very hard pressed to pick one of the above mentioned power cords over another. I can’t say that I can hear a difference of one power cord over the other, at least not at this particular time. One advantage of the CPT-300 is that it has the ability to clean crud from your AC current which might be an advantage depending on the quality of AC.
@droleg - thanks for your note here. I apologize for only getting to this now. We are fighting through a difficult day here with Snow and Ice - we are under Winter Storm Warnings today.
One of the best explanations of Balanced Power comes from the originator which is EQUI~Tech... Mr. Glasband has done a superb job of explaining this through this article -
What exactly is a balanced pewer supply? What is actually balanced? There is a hot wire, neutral, and ground that come out of the wall, and a hot, -, snd ground that go into the component, right?
Yes - Hassan, Doug and Justin have been going at it night and day and I've been told that my Alpha Samples will be good to go next week. I'm hoping for that... :)
Lak, I will be interestedin hearing about your experience with the Anticable Level 3 PC solo and in combination with CPT products. Please post your views. Thanks.
My sincere thanks to Greg Voth for sayin' it like it is :)
My additional thanks for my Brother Clement Perry who just today ordered 2 x 1800's (I had to tell him he had to wait a bit :(... )
We are very grateful...
Greg's comments as noted below...
Many thanks
Mark
Core Power Technologies EQUI=CORE 300(EQUI=CORE 300 $799.00 w/2.5 foot cord, $849.00 w/5.5 foot cord, $899.00 with 8.5 foot cord reviewed here):It might be trite to say I heard things I’d never heard before, but it’s true. With the EQUI=CORE 300, everything seems so much more 3-dimensional and effortless. The presentation sounds SO much bigger and more dynamic, with deeper and more enveloping bass within a much deeper soundstage Micro dynamics and subtle nuances that escaped me before are far more apparent, the noise floor has dropped noticeably lower and the 300 appears to offer a 12 to 20+dB boost in dynamic range. Upon hearing the EQUI=CORE 300 for the first time, I wrote Core Power Techs Mark Schifter the following: ‘Magnificent! It ain’t coming back.’ Since then I’ve acquired a second 300.(Greg Voth)
I am wondering if there are some more users who use the 220V version of the CPT. Does it work as good as the 110V version? I got a bit sceptical when reading about a return from the Netherlands and a not so good feedback from Thailand. Maybe even someone using the CPT with the Chord Dave?
More Trackers to be sent tomorrow. We just ran out of time and gas today. They can't ship out as we missed UPS in any event.
Exciting times for sure - the phone was ringing quite a bit today after CES - the Flat Panel Display/ Projection Guys are really interested. We had 11 unsolicited new orders from this group today.
Back to packing...
Thanks for the support everyone... Lynn and I sincerely appreciate it.
