There are many people using a tube pre and ss amp. I'd just start a thread about which amp people are using with their Vandersteens. You'll get some suggestions.
has anyone experienc Luna Dialogue amp ?ed a Rogue RP-1 with Prima
I currently have a Cronus Mag integrated and Vandys 2CE Sig. Im trading the integ. for a Rogue RP-1 preamp. I need to match it with an amp. my budget is for 3k for the amp. Im considering the Schiit Vigar, PL audiologue , Mc Gary SA1.
My concern is that an all tube system might be too rolled off. that means not enough bass. McGary and PL will not have enough power to drive the vandys at a normal listening volume and still provide def, soundstage and info. I know SS and tube preamp is a path tube lovers sometime use. Your input is highly appreciated.
BTW the Vidar and McGary can be tested at home but I have not found any dealer that would let me test the PM at home.

thanks guy. If I remember Richard at Vandersteen did commented that 30 wpc were on the lenient side. Getting an SS amp is a very reasonable option that can provide for a good source of power. So confusing and stressy. I guess the ear is the ultimate judge. But in these times is hard to go to any store. So the search will continue once we go back to normal. I wonder how many tube lovers have gone the SS amp/tube preamp? |
I'm not familiar with your Vandersteens but based on these measurements: https://www.stereophile.com/content/vandersteen-2ce-signature-loudspeaker-measurements If you're interested in bass I'd recommend a solid state amp. |
