You're fine! Ha ha ha. I've done the same at full volume. Woke up when the music stopped...

Fell asleep while TT was running with ortodoncia black cartridge!
@tubelvr1 I have a Q-up lifter that I have never used. Bought it new, and discovered that due to the design of my turntable (Oracle Delphi MK VI), there was no space to put it anywhere. Its yours if you want it. I'll need a mailing address PM'd to me, and I'll get it out to you via snail mail. Cheers |
I have a couple of automatic turntables, in part for that very reason. Music really relaxes me at the end of a day and I sometimes find myself waking up on the sofa after a listening session. I have a JVC QLY66F in my main system and a Realistic LAB440 in my bedroom. They are both decent performers, the JVC is better than the MMF 5.1 (which I have owned) with a little bit of internal damping and better feet. The Realistic table is surprisingly good, but not as good as your Music Hall table. |
As others have said, no harm done. When I was a teen I would fall asleep in bed with my Koss headphones on. Table had been spinning all night. I eventually bought an arm lift marketed by Monitor Audio. It was under $20.That was in the 70's. These days you can get a Q Up arm lifter on Amazon for $40. |
There is a nice device for those who prefer to fell asleep while playing record: Audio-Technica SAFETY RAISER. It will lift up your tonearm when the record is finished. Buy it and sleep well. |
Thanks for posting your question teo_audio. I've often wondered would happen to my Ortofon 2M Black's needle if I didn't get the tonearm lifted right away after a record ended. I left it on for only five minute after a record had ended yesterday and was worried about what might have happened to that Shibata stylus. Apparently nothing from what you all are saying. One less thing to worry about. Mike |
Get yourself a tonearm lifter. I've tried a few and found Little Fwend to be the best - i's also pricey ($250), but well worth it. I like to tip a few and listen to vinyl - there's no other better time - I think we can both agree on that. Audio Technica offers a version at around $130 - there may be cheaper ones on Ebay. |
no biggie. no problem. no worse than playing that same amount of time as records. It's when the turntable is bounced and the stylus jumps up on the label part. That’s when it becomes a problem. I’ve had that happen. When I had no money, like really poor, and the music was all that helped me get by. I had a linear tracking maplenoll turntable on a wall mount. I’d accidentally left the stylus on the dead wax grooves...and then went outside, but I had to slam the door, due to how sticky it was. It bounced, all right..... That cost me a brand new Ortofon MC30 Super. came back in a few hours later, no more stylus. Snapped it off on the eaten away paper label. |
