The Pompeii concert film shot in Autumn 1971 is probably the best prog live "gig" filmed. The whole Meddle album is their finest achievement, every tune is a gem in its own right and "Echoes" one of Prog´s best epics. Richard Wright was criminally underrated as a musician and a composer, Prog´s most unrated keyboard player anyway. And don´t forget Seamus the Dog, his performance is the best blues interpretation I have seen.

Richard Wright will be truely missed. He was one of the best Key boardist in music.
Sorry Chasmal, I have to disagree with you. In whole I dod not think "The Wall" was their best piece of work. But it produced what I think is one of the best songs of all time, "Comforably Numb". The second guitar solo by David Gilmour in that song was voted the best Guitar Solo of all time by Guitar Magazine and was voted on by guitar players like Jimmy Page, Pete Townsend etc.
Sad but there is no real live video of Pink Floyd in concert. Roger Waters did the Wall Live but not with members of Pink Floyd.
But there is one DVD out there that you can buy that has the actual line-up of Waters, Gilmour, Wright and Mason playing live. It is the the "Live 8" Concert Video. I am watching it now. They were the main attraction at the Hyde Park concert...Over 100,000 fans showed up to hear 4 sougs. But they are the last 4 songs that will ever be performed by the original members: Breathe (Dark Side Of The Moon, Money (DSOTM) Wish You Were Here (Wish You Were Here)and Comfortably Numb (The Wall).
I am hoping the Live 8 DVD comes out on Blu-Ray. But if you would like to view a more recent concert with Richard Wright. Get "David Gilmour Live At The Rotal Albert Hall". Richard Wright plays keyboards on this concert video. It is also available on Blu-Ray in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. I looks and sounds great!
We will surely miss Richard Wright, God Bless.
I am hoping they will re-release his two LPs "Broken China" and "Wet Dreams" on the current 180 Gram LP releases being put out by Classic Records.
"Great Gig in The Sky"...Till this day that song blows me away every time I listen to it..Hard to imagine Floyd has been around for that long already....Great band!!
I am not a rock fan but I love the stuff Pink Floyd did before "The Wall" (which I cannot stand). Meddle is a masterpiece.
What a blow to the music world! I remember when I first saw the Floydsters in Denver for the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour and they opened with a dark stage and Richard Wright in the spotlight for Shine on you Crazy Diamond.
So Richard I say Shine on you Crazy Diamond....
I just watched Remember That Night by David Gilmour with Rick on Keyboards which is great. David talked about Rick gaining more confidence with each performance and how he was coming out of his shell. Rick got standing ovations when introduced to the huge audiences. It was quite a shock to me and very sad to hear of his passing.
Imin2u, no worry to debate about tubes vs. solid state, cables or the best speakers when we're "^up^there^" !!
Hey, "if you believe in forever", we all have something to look forward to!

Maybe, "if there's a rock 'n roll heaven", we'll get to listen to them "live".

(You can tell I hung out with Bill Medley too long).

If you believe in forever,
Then life is just a one-night stand.
If there's a rock and roll heaven,
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band.
Jimmy gave us rainbows,
And Janis took a piece of our hearts,
And Otis brought us all to the dock of a bay.
Sing a song to light my fire,
Remember Jim that way,
They've all found another place, another place to play.
Chorus
Remember bad bad Leroy Brown,
Hey Jimmy touched us with that song.
Time won't change a friend we came to know.
And Bobby gave us Mack the Knife,
Well look out, he's back in town.
They'll all be there together
When they meet in one big show.
Sad to lose such a musically talented legend, I hope he's resting peacefully in the heavens.

Pink Floyd will live on forever, you are the **BEST** !!
His piano work from Us and Them will be playing in my head for quite a while...there's a timely, relevant and immortal song.
Rick Wright will be missed. His musical style along with Dave's guitar, roger's volcals, and Nicks drumming made Pink Floyd THE best band in the world in my opinion.
Wright's vocal and keyboard performance in the Floyd classic "Echoes" is one of my all time favorites.

Offer him a tribute and enjoy a treat for yourself...see him in his prime on the DVD "Live In Pompeii"!
He left a fine musical legacy and seemed like a nice gentleman from what I could see.....he will be missed!

Funny, I had tickets to see Yes this past summer and the tour was cancelled because of Jon Anderson's breathing problems. I am 51, and it's occurred to me that my rock heroes are going to start leaving us pretty soon, and I wondered how it would feel. Now I know... like a punch to the gut. I've seen Pink Floyd several times, and was fortunate to see Rick playing with David Gilmour at Radio City a year or two ago. I certainly didn't know the man, but I feel like I do.

A simple, beautiful, distinctive style on the piano and a keyboard pioneer in his own (W)right. Thank you, Rick... wish you were here.
