Maybe. I think the MC-05 uses magnets and the Akiko products use crystals. I’m not sure anyone has actually compared the two in their systems and wrote about it. If so, I’ve missed it. I think the Akiko stuff is trying to clean-up EMI/RF. The AC Enhancer works only on the ground and the Corelli I understand works on the hot, neutral and ground so that’s why it’s active. The MC-05 uses magnets to manipulate the electrons in the electrical current. So, two different concepts. They may actually work well together....
Corelli - really????
Hi,
I read the 6 moons review on this but I still have a hard time believing this can improve a system. Anyone have any experience with these?

Well I received the Corelli with its power cord and have now tried it in my digital dedicated line and also the analog line. First, I must mention the noise suppression items that I have already in place because I think its significant. I am using a Bybee AC Module Crystal, (10) HF MC-0.5's on each dedicated line. In addition to that I also have the Bybee IQSE's in each of my components and also in my DIY power strips. And each line is powered through CPT 1800/300 units. I mention all of this to put my review (opinion) in perspective. I have found that the Corelli does change the sound. The soundstage does indeed go back further. But... at the expense of the realism of the music. With the Corelli the music takes on sort of a fake sound. That is, full rounder music/notes are transformed to a stale sound. Now perhaps it needs more time to settle? But at this moment I can't see keeping this unit. And, at the price of $2200! Nice metal box though. I have read many of the on line glowing reviews and the high praise for the Corelli in this thread and I don't doubt that it works fine in many systems. So, it must be some interaction with the noise reduction devices that I have in my system. I suspect namely the Bybee units. I will let it play for a few more days before I send it back. My suggestion is to try this unit with your system before sinking $2200. ozzy |
sbayne, Yes, both dedicated lines exhibited the dry/dead sound. I have double Furutech GTX NCF outlets on each dedicated line. The CPT 300 is plugged into one of those double duplex’s. The CPT 300 is used for my digital equipment and has a DIY power strip plugged into it which has no filtering other than the Bybee IQSE inside and it also contains Furutech GTX ncf outlets. I also tried the Corelli plugged directly into one of the wall double duplex’s thus bypassing the CPT. The analog line has a CPT 1800 plugged into one of the wall double duplex’s and I tried the Corelli plugged into that CPT unit and directly into the wall outlet. The HF MC-0.5’s are plugged into a different power strip that is plugged into the other duplex in the double duplex’s. Could it be that the Corelli needs more breakin time? I don’t know, most of you seem to be impressed right away. My guess it is probably just too much crystals from the Bybee and the Corelli that are interacting. ozzy |
Ozzy- I have a music rail and IQSE in my amp and use a IQSE in my music server. I also use Sonic Tonics which I believe to be crystal based. Since the CorelIi is active I’m guessing it might be the interaction with the MC-05s. I purchased a MC-05 which should be here Monday. I realize it won’t be like having 20 of them in my system like you do but now I really want to hear what happens. It does seem the effect is better the longer the Corelli is plugged in. I’ve been messing with different configurations with mine and normally let each change “cook” for awhile (couple hours) before listening too critically. I have found, like others have reported, the power cord used on the Corelli does make a difference. Getting a stale/dry/dead sound is really surprising. I thought you might say it made no difference in your system or made things too thick and syrupy. Thanks for your feedback. |
Akiko has a NEW product, a passive grounding block called ’Castello’ https://www.akikoaudio.com/en/products/560-akiko-audio-ground-conditioner-castello-english |
@sbayne Now that my T+A amp has nearly two weeks of break in time on it, I decided to move the Corelli back to the same duplex my active / power supply-conditioner is on. In this placement position, there is a greater (and positive) impact on overall system sound. It is ’back’ to the same position it was in with my previous passive power supply. In other words, an improvement over the ’daisy chain’ placement I had it in while the T+A was (is) breaking in. Once I have three weeks on the T+A I’ll start seriously evaluating the peripherals (like the Corelli) in my system and will post more at that time. |
Just recently purchased the Corelli.. and I might add.. with a bit of trepidation on my part. Well, long story short... this conditioner is absolutely a game changer in my system. What it brings to the table is nothing short of musical nirvana. I know my words my seem a bit overboard, but folks, what it does is just crazy good and something everyone should try to experience if the opportunity arises. I am using it plugged into my Shunyata Hydra 8..which is a passive unit..and the results are simply "superb"...I want to thank all the participants in this thread for their honest reviews of this music making machine... Hmm!!! I am now pondering if the addition of the Castello and/or the DIY Harmonizer unit could be a big plus in the musical checkbox column..making for the combination of a truly sota conditioning system... |
Just a quick update... I recently added a DIY Harmonizer unit into my system to compliment the Corelli. WOW!!!... This thing doesn’t compliment it...it super charges it!!! Everything that I love about the Corelli has now been magnified/enhanced with the Harmonizer installed into the circuit breaker box...removing even more sonic congestion/noise from the musical fabric. The air, quietness, delicacy, articulation and overall presentation..including enhanced low level bass slam..can now let the music unfold/breath into a much more involving auditory delight...making for an even more refined and enjoyable listening experience. The separation of instruments/voices and the notes they create can be heard as never before..with more delicate details emerging with an involvement factor off the charts... I dare you to turn your system off..it won’t be easy !!! 8) Highly recommended to any Corelli owner who may demand the proverbial ’icing on the cake’ and the need to ’eat it too’. Delicious... |
