Confessions

What artist or music do you like, that generally you won't play around your wife or friends/family, because you may fear mockery, or not enjoy it, out of being misunderstood, because they don't/wont "get it"

sorry for the wrong use of quotation marks.

Be brave and tell..

OR.... maybe it's just me, and I'm too self conscience.

Here's one of mine.

Antonio Carlos Jobim

I think he was great,my wife looked at me like I'm nuts and was starting to like elevator muzak.

Jobim's great, especialy his TIDE album.

Anyone else? Please tell!

I'm a huge Def Leppard fan, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. But I'm also the kind of guy who will pick up Tool, Sarah Brightman, Radiohead and Michael Hedges all in the same purchase.
Minnie Ripperton

lovin' you

LA-LA-LA-LA-LA la-la-la-la-la lalolalolalala-lola

AHAHAHAHOHAH!
Eddie Rabbitt's "I Love a Rainy Night" and "Drivin' My Life Away"

Neil Sedaka "Laughter in the Rain"

Rupert Holmes " Escape (The Pina Colada Song)"

Sweet "Little Willy","Ballroom Blitz"

Neil Diamond .... anything during his top 40 days.

*note* ..... none of these are my "all time favorite songs", just songs I like that won't admit in public. :)
A tenant from a while ago ask me not to play REO Speedwagon hi infidelity, I had only played it once. So I played it a few more times and load just for them. They never asked again.
If you like the music for any reason you should play it anytime you want. I even still like some disco and am not afraid to admit it. Donna Summers comes to mind.
I guess you showed them! stupid tenants.....

Clint Eastwood should had done that to his neighbors with the Guns and Roses song "Welcome to the jungle" in his Gran Torino movie.

Ya,maybe while sittin on his porch drinking beer, shouting "Your in the Jungle baby!!!" firing his gun into the air.

musical terrorism,hummm...
So in other words if someone does not like the music you play or something your doing on your property you should stop right there and then or your a terrorist?!!!
I think the Golden rule is applicable here, with a dash of common sense and civility.

I can't really play any of the free jazz I love so much when my wife is home. Cecil Taylor, Ornette Coleman, Coltrane's later recordings on Impulse, Albert Ayler...anything like that makes her crazy.

As far as rock goes, I have found nothing that clears out a room faster than Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band's "Trout Mask Replica."
Is calling me a Terrorist common sense and civility. Does that not go against your golden rule or is it okay for you but not others. Terrorist is a very strong word and very offensive to me.

There were other words exchanged at the time that cause me to act that way. I did not think I had to go into, like I have no taste in music, do you have to play that SH.. etc.
You may take it but I will not.

I did like it when Clint Eastwood pointed the rifle at them for going on his property. Oops he's probably a terrorist for doing that.

This is a waste of my time. Just tried to get a laugh not an insult.
I never called you or anyone a terrorist, your comments just brought it to mind...and I pondered it for a second for amusement.

Anyway,

Bagpipe Music?? I wouldnt know what to get. Any recommendations Joeylawn36111?

My dad was in the service, and he must have first heard it when he was stationed in the UK. So, I heard a lot of it growing up when he would play it on his stereo. Most of it is British Military band music. Units with names like "Royal Scots Dragoon Guards" and "4th Highlanders".

No Problemo.
I'm a sarcastic person by nature, and I dont mean any harm.
It doesnt always translate well in type.
Peace to you.

BTW, I loved the movie Gran Torino and think its one of Eastwoods best ever.
Mcgarick

I don't translate well in type either. I usually leave out the fine details.
Life is too short.
Picked up Madonna's "Immaculate Collection" the other day at a record show, just to hear the Q sound effects. They did rather well on this one. Yes, I'll listen to her on occassion. I'll try just about anything once.
I bought George Michael's Listen without Prejudice after hearing him sing Praying for Time on American Idol. Great lyrics but the disk is for lack of a better word weirdly recorded. I don't know how else to describe it. It's sounds like hi-fi AM radio. There's a thinness to it that I've never heard before. It's sounds like something's missing. Some of the other songs are not bad but he should have done a lot better on production.
Pop and jazz music. Don't tell it to my black metal friends :) They will eat me alive.
