Clear Day silver jumpers or equivalent

nonoise, we both agree it seems that when people say bi-wiring doesn't make a difference they either have equipment or ears that are not up to the task of noticing that difference.
fiesta75, agree on the benefits of silver. When people say silver causes harshness or sibilance I think they also don't have equipment up to the task. And when some even say that silver brings out too much detail in the music, I say WHAT? Too much detail? That's why I spent all of this money, to get all of the details out of the music. I have noticed that as my equipment gets better as I upgrade, high notes like violins and such that used to hurt my ears don't seem to anymore. Guess it's all about components that work well with each other

+1 for silver. In my opinion anytime you can lower the resistance, whether cables, jumpers or CONNECTORS, that will result in better sound.

That's the set up I ended up with: two sets of cables. That sounded better than any configuration of a single set of SCs, jumpers, and which inputs to use.

Thanks tweak1, actually things have changed a little since my original post. I'm not sure I will really have a need for jumpers. Because I used to bi-amp my speakers I purchased two sets of speaker cables from Paul. Now that I only run a single amplifier I had an extra set of cables that I wouldn't need. So I decided I would run one set to the lower terminals and one set to the upper terminals of my speakers so at this time no need for jumpers. Some might think it's in my head but I have always found when listening that whichever terminals got the direct connection to the amplifier would take priority over the terminals that received current through the jumpers. Nice job with the website and the company name too

He made me a set of jumpers when I had Magnepan 3.5Rs, but I sold them long ago

You might try Wire World. I use their OCC cable as jumpers between my Emerald Physics 3.4s and their outboard power supplies. If you don't need them terminated that would save $$$

Thanks again for the help. By all means don't do anything that would damage your interconnects just for reverse engineering purposes. Like I said I have some of his RCA interconnects and if someone were going to cut anything open it should be me. I am interested in trying to make some balanced interconnects and you've given me the information I need to give it a shot. I just purchased a pre-owned Topping D90 DAC on audiogon which has XLR outputs. When I upgrade my preamp to a balanced one I will need the new interconnects. When that time comes I'll let you know how my project goes. Thanks and take care

I’m pretty sure Paul’s IC’s both single and balanced were unshielded; single ended likely only two conductors, and the balanced the three… again doubtful a shield tied to the one end. I don’t have a balance set anymore but I do have a single end pair I could open the plug up to inspect. 
As mentioned I’m pretty sure Paul used 18 gauge throughout as it’s small enough to reduce or have little skin effect but not too small to be brittle. My guess is he used only the three conductors on the balance cable and on the positive and negative conductor used either a 1/8” or smaller techflex or a cotton sleeve as a isolator and the third ground conductor floats inside the outer techflex jacket. I’m pretty sure he did not do a braid like Kimber Kable but a simple twist not being too tight. With a solid conductor the cable gets stiff if you do a braid, at least from my experience.
I recall talking to Paul about building a phono cable for my turntable and he mentioned he did not like using a shield or a ground on a single ended cable so pretty sure he liked his cables to be wide open.

Just dug out my Clear Days and Paul put heat shrink around the bottom of the plug barrel so I’d have to cut that off which I’d prefer not to. Very hard to see inside the outer Techflex jacket but it looks like another smaller jacket of Techflex. Does feel like a twisted pair.

I'm certain Paul would very much approve of those very kind words. Although being such a humble guy he might respond with an "Aw shucks, I'm just a regular guy like everyone else doing the best I can."  With all of the information you were able to give me on Clear Day speaker cables and jumpers, I thought perhaps you could enlighten me in a similar way on Paul's interconnects. I have several pair of his single ended I love them. I have recently bought into some balanced equipment so I could use some balanced XLR interconnects. Finding pre-owned I do believe would be near impossible. I would be willing to try and make a set of my own if you happen to know the parts I would need. For that matter even the formula for RCA interconnects would be welcome if I should ever require more sets of them. Again for your help

Yes I spoke to Paul on several occasions and we shared many emails. Paul was a great guy and the very first phone call we had, he insisted on sending my a set of Double Shotguns with no deposit or credit card, but only asked if I didn’t like them to send them back or drop a check in the mail which I did. Later I bought several pairs of both balanced and single ended IC’s and jumpers.  Not many people out there like him. He wasn’t afraid to talk about his faith of being a Christian and knew doing so, people would be watching him and he lived his life as such. I’m sure Paul touched a lot of people’s hearts on his short time here, and hopefully he led some along the way.

Yes Paul did polish the silver wire before going into the TechFlex, but I don’t think it really changed the characteristics for sound, but to prevent or slow down tarnishing. He also burned his cables in before shipping on a cooker.

I doubt Paul made a lot of money on his cables, after factoring in parts and labor, and I don’t think that’s why he did it. He flat out asked me the first time we talked, after he got to know me a little if I was a believer, which I responded I am, and he followed up with he could tell. I think this was his mission to talk to people to find those with no faith and to disciple to them. Sorry to go off tangent on this thread, but I’m pretty sure Paul would approve. 

Appreciate the responses, extremely helpful. Actually for a short time I had a set of the jumpers that Paul sent me. Ridiculously low price of $50 or so. I had recently upgraded from the middle of the reference line Onkyo A-9070 amp to their top of the line M-5000R. I also purchased the P-3000R preamp when I upgraded. Had all Clear Day cables including interconnects at that point, double shotguns for the speakers. Was happy as can be and thought my journey to audio bliss was complete for a while. I even boxed up my A-9070 amp to sell it on Audiogon. Then I started to think about how the Onkyo preamp allows bi-amping the speakers. Rather than sell that amp for $600 or so I decided to hook it up that way and found a noticeable upgrade and sound quality. So I ordered another set of double shotguns and didn't need the jumpers anymore. I think Paul on the phone said if you don't need the jumpers you could put them towards the new speaker cables and then he would have them if another customer wanted them. So I sent them back to him. Truth is I don't really need them right now but would like to have a set in case I ever upgrade my amp and preamp and don't bi-amp anymore. With what you have told me I think I could make a set if I needed them. I would probably wait until that time comes now that I know the formula. One thing Paul also mentioned to me is he polished the silver wires before assembling the cables. Hopefully some of you were blessed enough to meet Paul or speak to him on the phone. Just had to make sure you allowed enough time. Usually we'd talk about his products for 10 minutes or so and then we'd talk an hour or two about how our lives journeys have taken us to where we have been, where we were, and where we were going. You could also explore the bare silver options from VH Audio and Tempo Electric.  I own a pair of Clear Day jumpers, but unfortunately, they're still in use.  ;-))

I used to own a set of double shotguns with jumpers. Wonderful cables. I’m going to bet you’ll never come across a set of just the jumpers as Paul really didn’t advertise he made them and probably most stayed with the factory speaker straps. You can make your own easily.

Paul used 18 gauge dead soft silver and did not use any insulation jacket but each single conductor was in its own tech flex sleeve. His trick was air and not an insulator which all change the characteristics of the cable... some soften too much and some make a cable bright. Pick up some Cardas silver solder, some black and red heat shrink and some affordable spades or bananas and you’re good to go. Make them 8” long with 3 conductors per jumper and they’re not twisted. I found the link to the set I sold so you have a picture to go off from. Paul also didn’t buy into expensive ends but less was better approach. Hope this helps.
