Change of Ethernet Cable

Hello every one I just changed the ethernet cable of Wireworld Chroma to the starlight 8 Red color at first it sounded good there was a change for good but gradually I find it quite sharp and lacks the sound stage which people talked about and the bass is missing could it be that it needs more time or is it the way it is suppose to sound I have clocked 15 hours and it should have settled by now.

any thoughts

@jasbirnandra - here's a couple of tips

  1. +1 for @kota1  - give it 100 hours first
  2. if after 100 hours it still sounds bad...
    1. get an ethernet switch and place it very close to connected device and use a short (3ft) high quallity ethernet cable
      1. a switch nornmally has a 5V power supply
  3. for ultimate sound quality, replace the power supply to the switch with a recharegeable battery

Whilst I have not personallly tried the switch idea, on paper it sounds about right and many other report great results.

Good luck - Steve

Give it 1000 hours. Only listen with your fingers crossed. Don’t cross your legs because that will throw the cable out of balance.

@kota1

+1 on 100 hours

Also, what is your equipment. While, in general, a particular wire will have general effect, it is also very dependent on your equipment. There is a place under your user ID to put photos of your system and ID your components. This will help enormously for us to help you.

FYI. I have used WireWorld Starlight on several of my systems and it never really did anything for me. I have had greater improvements with DHLabs, Cardas and a couple other Ethernet cables. But those are my experiences with my systems.

Can someone recomend a ethernet which has a little body to the sound than the wireworld starlight8

@jasbirnandra Consider flipping the cable end-for-end.  Apparently, ethernet cables are directional (stated in other thread)

@jasbirnandra I really like the Purist ethernet cable. Not crazy expensive either especially used. Full sound, great layering and soundstage.

Network Acoustics Muon Pro Cabling system out of the UK. Give Rob a call....a great guy

Interesting, how can an ethernet cable impact sound other than blocking out RFI and EMI?

Every ethernet cable has its impact on sound I tried a few and understood that ethernet cable does make a difference, noise is surely reduced to give a quiter background for music but how musical is the cable and other components is a different equation, some times a cable might be noise free but not musical that is were you decide which cable is best for you.

OP,

+1 I agree. I have been using DHLabs Ethernet (having tried several other good quality cables, like Nordost) … but realized after your post, I am sure a Cardas would be the ticket. I will ask my dealer for one when he has a chance… it sounds like the perfect, musical solution.
