Can you shoot me 2 VINYL albums that cost

sound superb and the musical performance is fantastic?

Albums in the proverbial cannon--i.e. Joni Mitchell Blue, Miles Davis Blue--are acceptable yet it would be great to get others slightly off the cannon radar.

Thanks much!  I am excited to see your responses.

Peter Paul and Mary - Their first album or In the Wind
Larry Coryell - Fairyland
Great one jperry!  PP&M's production and engineering were superb.  Their talents and music were always top notch.  I appreciate this one.
Ralph Towner - "Solstice" on the ECM label

Haden, Gismonti & Garbarek, "Magico" also on the ECM label

By the way, re "that cost" - what did you intend there?
Henry Mancini - The Pink Panther (RCA Victor LPM-2795)Nat King Cole - After Midnight (Capitol W782)
An original US Atco pressing (Charisma in the UK) of “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway” is terrific. The bass pedals on Back In New York City and Fly On A Windshield will test your system.

“Famous Blue Raincoat” by Jennifer Warnes on the Cypress label is similarly outstanding.

Melody Gardot - "My One and Only Thrill" available in one LP 180 gram pressing or 2 LP 45 rpm version.
In The Wind was never issued on Columbia.

All PPM releases are on Warner Brothers.

Pay attention.
Additionally, Warner Brothers’ PPM original mono releases had gray labels and the stereo releases were in gold.
Chairman Of The Board - Count Basie - Classic Records Reissue
The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway - Genesis - Classic Records Reissue
Neil Young  "Harvest Moon"  this latest remaster / dbl lp / superb!
Amanda Shires "My Piece of Land" = "off radar"
Great, great recs everyone. Thanks for keeping me busy!

I mistakenly forgot to finish my post on cost—I was hoping for $40 or less.
Gillian Welch "The Harrow and the Harvest" and "Soul Journey".

Sadly there have been pressing problems with SJ.

These two are easily some of the best of 2018

@slaw +1

I use these albums regularly when non-audiophile friends ask if they can hear the weird looking speakers in the living room. "Look at Miss Ohio" on SJ gives everybody goosebumps, especially when the drums drop in.

I have also been listening to "Small Town Heroes" by Hurray For The Riff Raff and the music and the pressing are superb.  If you are a Gillian fan check them out.

Finally, you cannot go wrong with Ry Cooder, my recommendation would be Paradise and Lunch

A couple recent releases that I’ve been returning to often:

Lucrecia Dalt – ¡Ay!

Gil Scott-Heron – Pieces Of A Man recent 45 RPM reissue on BGP. Takes some hunting to find under $40, but one of those ee-bayy bulk discount sellers usually have them listed.

[edit: just realized this thread was started 5 years ago!  If you adjust for inflation, I guess you're looking at under $50 now?]
