At an upgrade path fork in the road

So I have two systems at home. The basement rig, which is an all Focal/Anthem HT setup with streaming capability, and the living room two channel setup.

Recently my Odyssey Khartago in the two channel failed, which created a discussion about a new upgraded amplifier. I’m having some “upgrade snowball” ideas, however.

The two channel setup is:

Rega P8/Apheta3

Rega Aria Mk. 3 phono amp

Primaluna Dialogue Pre

(Hitherto) Odyssey Khartago (Adcom GFA 545 currently sitting in)

Rotel 1072 CD spinning into

Schiit Yggdrasil A1 DAC

Goldenear Triton Ones

Anticable IC’s

AQ speaker cable

What I want is to move my digital out of spinning platters (while retaining the option of doing so) and into streaming off a drive with an iPad interface. I’ve already ripped every CD to FLAC.

I need to replace the power amplifier but am considering going instead into an integrated DAC/streamer in order to simplify things. The number and options in this regard are making my head spin. This also leaves the PL out of the loop and I’m not sure how I feel about that. I’m very fond of its sound.

The new wave seems to be all in this direction so before I drop big $$ I think I’d better figure out just what direction I want to go in.  My listening tastes run from folk to rock to jazz, maybe a smattering of classical. I will ultimately upgrade my speakers, so I’m looking for amplification that can handle about down to 86 dB and is 4 ohm stable. My listening levels don’t generally get much higher than 90 dB.

Any help or suggestions would be great. I’m not even sure where to start.

Thats funny because of all the gear you have I Honestly think its the Prima Luna holding your system back. The PL is good but its too warm and lush and velvety sounding , I recommend auditioning at least three pre amps in your system, this will bring the biggest change in sound.  Also I would buy a Adcom GFA 555 or 555II, its a design by Nelson Pass and is one of the sleeper amps from decades ago so you can find them cheap in great condition, usually around $300-500. AND if you find a OPPO universal player/DAC/streamer this is the best way to spend under $1000 and get a player worth 3-4 times that. They dont make Oppo BDP 105’s anymore but you can find them used, BUY ONE! its a amazing machine.
