I'm in the same boat--about to replace my integrated amp's jumpers with an IC. I was just reading a thread on another forum in which several people opined that the pre-to-amp connection is the most important and most sensitive. Which is it? and why?"
There's no possible way to really answer your questions. There's just too many variables to consider. Your equipment, personal tastes and budget all play a factor. No matter what anyone says, you just need to figure these things out for yourself. If you are just starting out, I would recommend getting some decent entry level copper cables from a company like Audioquest, Kimber, Cardas etc.. Something well designed but not too expensive. You need cables, no matter what, just to connect your components, so you have to get something. From there, you have a baseline to judge other cables that you may want to try later on. Maybe you will upgrade, maybe you won't. That will be up to you. I say, just use your head and make your own decisions. If you listen to other people and make mistakes, you'll be P**** Off.
