Here are some off-the-beaten track favorites of mine: Dada: Puzzle Toy Matinee: Toy Matinee Morphine: Cure For Pain The Golden Palominos: Pure Box Scaggs: Dig (bought it for one song... Thought other's were odd. A year later I really like all the tracks except for the one that I bought the album for which I find kind of boring now) Alt J: An Awesome Wave. Of course Metallica, Tool, STP, System of a Down, all have great albums out there as well |
Some great suggestions here, I concur on Tool, Porcupine Tree, Nothing but Thieves and band maid. since you like Steely Dan, my favorite artist honestly try Monkey House. don’t forget linkin park and Evanescence. the track Lonely is the Muse by Halsey really rocks

Queensryche - Della Brown (a very underrated rock/metal vocalist) https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=cTyWfSbsFD0&si=NNIfWo-fmIhzUh5E
Pearljam - Indifference https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=vZCMgm6Z-8M&si=Qs1FB40_fZ-zRKNM
Blackfield - The hole in me https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=49ZKKlhdg6I&si=7YxqkzMcWHdTDf8B
Generally, any band Steven Wilson is involved in....solo albums, porcupine tree, blackfield, no-man, etc will have high quality recordings, the likes of which didn't quite work out in the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Red hot chilli peppers - Give it away (this was a funky piece when it first came out, won a grammy, i suppose) |
