Recommendation: great floorstander & amp $3K ea
Jbhiller,Reading your post, I can't help but think you may have some type of issue with your system. I've owned both the Rotel and the 5350 an have used them both together. When you state issues like harshness, clipping, poor imaging and flubby ba...
? for ya, Al
"Zd542, thanks for pointing that out. But to clarify, do you mean that there is only one signal on the XLR connectors (the "hot" signal on pin 2), and pin 3 is grounded instead of being provided with the inverted or "cold" signal that would normal...
MIT Bi-Wire Speaker Cable Question
I've had several pairs of MIT cables in the past. You won't do any damage by experimenting. I would try all 3 ways and just pick the one you like the sound of best. I would call MIT as well, and see what they say.

I had an SSP25. Its not balanced. The xlr's are for convenience (or to fool someone that doesn’t know better). Be careful with the rca's, though. They break very easily.
Jolida 502BRC turning off uncontrollably
Given the info in your post, you clearly have a big problem somewhere. You need to take the amp out of the system immediately. Since it smelled like it was burning, the only sensible thing to do would be to have a professional check it out. Also, ...
Avantgarde Trios too loud with my amps
Your BAT components are very good. I wouldn't be so fast to get rid of them. There are some things you may want to try first. Even though your amps are more powerful than what you really need, they’re very quiet and should work with your speakers....
Stereophile Class A tables
"As always, people in the 'audio know' confuse price with the 'better' word. One has nothing to do with the other. Don't even mention the word 'worth' as that is a very subjective judgement and is wholly depending on each persons bank balance. "If...
Amp / Tubes / Channel
Reading through this post, I'm not clear if you tested all of your components to make sure that the problem is with the amp. For example, if the right channel is OK and the left is not working, go to the back of your preamp and unplug the cable fo...
What amps do Electrical Engineers own...why?
"Which ever amps have the BEST specs."How do you define best specs? Specs on audio equipment are notoriously inaccurate. There's no accepted standards by which to rate components. One companies 50 watts is another companies 100 watts. Going just b...
Can anyone explain cable risers?
Are you talking about those little stands you put you speaker cables on so they're not on the floor?
What amps do Electrical Engineers own...why?
Interesting question. "As a lay person, I don't know enough to be able to differentiate good engineering from good marketing."You really don't have to. Listen to some amps and pick the one you like best. Also, just because someone is an electrical...
Pre-Amp that mate well with Threshold or Pass Labs
"Either your taste is different than Nelson Pass' or it was something with your system."Nothing like stating the obvious."Either way it has no relevance."Why?
Pre-Amp that mate well with Threshold or Pass Labs
Your current preamp should work OK. There's really no way to see how good it will sound in your system until you listen to it. I had the Aleph 0's. BAT and Audio Research sound good with the Pass. I tried a Pass preamp, as well, but didn't like it.
A.research cd 3 mk2 doesn't work as a transport
Your CD player is fully balanced. You may have to do something to it in order to switch back and forth between bal and se operation. Your owners manual will definitely tell you what to do. Also, the problem may with not having the dac on the corre...
Furman power conditioner question
It's a tough decision. I can't help but think that you may not be putting your money into the most effective place. You don't list a source. If you don't already have something good, I would look into that option first. As far as power products go...
