Best Amp for Timbre, Depth and Spatial Resolution?
I should have asked in my 1st post, but what is it that your system lacks? Is there something you need to improve or are you generally happy and just want to improve without loosing what you already have?
When does someone need a DAC
Yes. A CD player player does have its own internal DAC. It has to, otherwise it wouldn't be able to play the CD. I think a good place to start would be listing what kind of equipment you currently have. If you already have a high end CD player, it...
Need some suggestions on tube amplifier
Maybe a CJ MV-55.
Preamp with XLR input under 1k?
In your price range, an active preamp, used, new, SE or balanced, is going to be a difficult find. (I mean one that sounds good.). I'll take a BAT VK3i also if anyone wants to sell me one for around 1k. If you are willing to give a passive a try, ...
Recommend me a warm sounding 5 channel power amp
Since you like the sound of the Marantz, I should have also mentioned the MM7055. Its a 5 channel amp that lists for about $1200. It probably has a lot more power than your receiver.
RCA ouput for Yamaha audiogram6
You need to use both channels because you are working with stereo. Each channel has different information. If your sound card has left and right rca outs, you shouldn't have any problem. The easiest thing to do is split the signal right at the sou...
Preamp with XLR input under 1k?
Does the preamp have to be balanced or just have an XLR input?
Vandersteen 2ce vs Vandersteen 2ce Signature II
I had the Sig 1's and moved up to the Sig 2's. Either model should be a pretty big upgrade from what you have now. The newer ones are better but its not a huge difference. If your budget doesn't allow for a new pair, I recommend the Sig 1's withou...
Want to replace my speaker cables
15 feet isn't that long. If you are not having any problems with your current cables, keep them.
EXPERIENCED VAC USERS—most bang for the buck
I'm not trying to be mean, but I think it would be a good idea to send your client to a VAC dealer. You're talking about expensive, speciality equipment here. The customer deserves better than buying from an unauthorized dealer that knows nothing ...
Power for Peachtrees - conditioning advice?
The first thing you should do is wait until you get your speakers and have had a chance to break them in and listen to them for a while, before you do anything with AC products. After that, I highly recommend you demo any AC equipment first before...
Aerial 7T/6 vs Vandersteen Quatro/Treo/2Ce Sig II
Knghifi,I'm glad to see you didn't take post too seriously. I wasn't sure because it took you a while to respond. Unfortunately, my comments on Vandersteen setup holds true in many cases. So many people who have them fail to get the best out of th...
Best Amp for Timbre, Depth and Spatial Resolution?
"09-15-13: JburidanSS amps and PP tube amps don't do timbre -- for that you want 300B SET, IME."Doesn't the design have, at least, a little to do with timbre? I can tell the difference between a piano and a violin with both my SS and PP tube amps.
Recommend me a warm sounding 5 channel power amp
If the Matantz is working OK for you, why not just keep that?
How quiet is your room?
If the room is too quiet it feels wrong. Its hard to explain exactly and may not effect everyone the same way, but I just feel uncomfortable in a super quiet room.
