Would u give up usher mini dancer 2 for b&w 802's
I'd give up audio if I had to put another pair of 802's in my system.
cd player not reading a disc? Laser dirty?
Will it play other disks or just not the one that was already in the transport? Also, do you leave your CD player powered up all the time or turn it on for each use?
new preamp under $750 with remote, solid state...
The Adcom GFP-750 is much better.
Cables more hype than value?
"09-20-13: Audiolabyrinth@ Mrtennis, Hi, Thankyou, looking at the audio visor catalog, they show the tubes with no pins for tube sockets, It clearly shows the tubes with wires coming straight from the bottom of the tubes, It is a pic with the tube...
Is a high priced Line Conditioner needed
The Cable Company will send you some line conditioners to try first, before you buy them. I would go that route. You never know what's going to happen when you put power products in your system.
Puzzle:Integrated. Vintage. Tube. Phono. Headphone
I would go with something modern. If you were looking for a vintage tube amp, that's one thing. Preamps are another matter. Go with a modern design. I would also consider getting an external phono preamp and/or headphone amp. Otherwise your choice...
Pioneer VSX-21 won't turn on?
Let it sit unplugged for a few hours and then try it.
Remote For Meridian 200 Transport
A universal remote should work fine. I used to have a 200 myself. I'm pretty sure they used a Philips transport in that unit, maybe Sony. Either way, just go through the list of choices for companies that make transports in the manual they give yo...
Soundlab speakers
I've never owned a pair of Soundlab's, but I've heard them several times and liked them very much. Definitely worth looking in to. Also, they were always paired with Boulder. It must be a very good match.
Shifting absolutes
"09-18-13: StringreenYes but everything sounds different in different venues. I am a violinist, well acquainted with the sound of my instrument, but in each hall I play, it sounds like a different instrument. There are no absolutes"Sorry if I wasn...
Audio Research SP17 or Modwright LS100?
"I have always been on a journey in the audiophile world and recently got a pm from another forum stating that a preamp is a waste of money in comparison to a decent AVR because science basically dictates that in DBT, one cannot hear a difference ...
Thoughts on Krell FPB series? 600 in particular.
There's more to it than just extra power. How does the system sound when going from your 850 directly to the amp?
Shifting absolutes
If your reading that from an audio magazine, its more likely that they are missing something, not you. As far as I know, the absolute sound in audio is referred to an actual instrument, voice, etc being played live. So if you are somewhere listeni...
Need some suggestions on tube amplifier
The MV-55 is just an amp, so if you don't have a preamp, you would need one. I used to have one. Its an excellent all around amp. The sound is traditional CJ, very listenable with decent power. Made in the US (very rare these days). Simply put, if...
