Anyone else receive low offers right away ?
Regardless of what the offer is the seller always has the right to say NO. This is business, it's not personal.I've made some lowish offers. I do this to get the ball rolling. And to my surprise, my first offer is sometimes accepted.
Rogue Audio Tempest ii and Tempest iii
I own a Tempest II Magnum. Since the III was released I communicated with Rogue to find out what the differences are and what the update cost is. From what I was told, there is the headphone amps you mention plus a switchable active line stage. Th...
Fremer lays an Ostrich egg...
Too much "ink spilled" on two diverging opinions already. I would not hang my hat on the words of any reviewer. For me a review is a starting point, not the destination. I would certainly want to hear something based on a great review but would not...
In what price range do I need to go for a Dac ?
FWIW I like the 260D better than a $4,000 Meridian I once owned. If you like the basic big boned presentation of the 260D you may flip over the 650
Headphone Amps
Add this to your list to consider- Heed Canamp.
Mcintosh MC501 or MC 352 for Sonus Faber Cremona
I have heard Cremonas with the MC352 in a friend's system. Nice set up, and far more than powerful enough. Not lacking in detail or slow (I often feel the two are related), in my opinion. Coherency? Could be a point.
Warm, lush and smooth interconnect help
You have to audition cables in your system. How a particular cable is considered in another system may not be very revealing at all. I have found- in my system- Analysis Plus Solo Crystal cables are excellent and well priced, especially if buying ...
Tube Amp For Revel F52`s...?
I have RevelF30's which are no easier to drive and maybe a touch tougher because the impedance drops a little lower than the F52's. I am driving my F30s quite well with a Rogue Tempest II Magnum. I think a Rogue Cronus Magnum would also work quite...
Free stuff you didn't know you needed
Free? Hah! My young son, after seeing this app in action, is begging me to get a McIntosh preamp. I suppose it's my fault he even knows that the meters resemble those found on a Mac Pre.
Speaker placement question-
I went to the Cardas site and found the page on speaker placement. Plugging in my room width, the Cardas site suggests placing my speakers a touch closer to each other but noticably further into the room. It's a nice placement at the expense of ba...
best vintage stereo receiver
Once owned a Tandberg 2045. Very nice till the transformer failed. I also have had quite good experiences with some mid 70's Pioneer and Marantz receivers. FWIW, 35 years ago or so, manufacturers really did put out good receivers. I always thought...
Downgrading
When I sold off a pricey tube amp and tube Pre-amp, I then bought an integrated amp (also tubes) and pocketed thousands. I thought I was downgrading. Funny thing- it was quickly apparent that the integrated amp sounded better. I call that a win-wi...
Speaker placement question-
I am not interested in duplicating a reviewer's experience or set up. I was merely curious. I have my speakers set up just right, for me and for my room.
how make your speker faster
You may be experiencing dynamic compression. The louder the system the more the sound may tend to smear. On better systems, short of running out of amplifier power the sound will just get louder. Subjectively, too much bass response will tend to m...
Unusual TAS bomb
The TAS review is the opinion of just ONE person, and is no more credible than anyone ONE else who also listens to the DAC8. Not everyone likes the same thing. That's why when you go to the ice cream shop, they offer more than just vanilla. The th...
