Speaker placement question-
I went to the Cardas site and found the page on speaker placement. Plugging in my room width, the Cardas site suggests placing my speakers a touch closer to each other but noticably further into the room. It's a nice placement at the expense of ba...
best vintage stereo receiver
Once owned a Tandberg 2045. Very nice till the transformer failed. I also have had quite good experiences with some mid 70's Pioneer and Marantz receivers. FWIW, 35 years ago or so, manufacturers really did put out good receivers. I always thought...
Downgrading
When I sold off a pricey tube amp and tube Pre-amp, I then bought an integrated amp (also tubes) and pocketed thousands. I thought I was downgrading. Funny thing- it was quickly apparent that the integrated amp sounded better. I call that a win-wi...
Speaker placement question-
I am not interested in duplicating a reviewer's experience or set up. I was merely curious. I have my speakers set up just right, for me and for my room.
how make your speker faster
You may be experiencing dynamic compression. The louder the system the more the sound may tend to smear. On better systems, short of running out of amplifier power the sound will just get louder. Subjectively, too much bass response will tend to m...
Unusual TAS bomb
The TAS review is the opinion of just ONE person, and is no more credible than anyone ONE else who also listens to the DAC8. Not everyone likes the same thing. That's why when you go to the ice cream shop, they offer more than just vanilla. The th...
What is the best vintage TT for new audiophile?
Sonographe SG-3; AR ES-1; an early LP 12; Planar 3; VPI HW 19; I recently had the pleasure of starting to restore a friend's SG-3. In terms of its drive system, it is very similar to the AR, and it almost appears that the entire design brief was t...

Need Tweeter for Revel Performa F30
Grills were an extra cost option. I think they ran about $250. I happen to have bought the grills and usually leave them on because of the presence of wandering hands in my home. I was always afraid my kids would throw toys in the port at the rear...
Has anyone heard the SimAudio 650D?
I have heard the 650D and thought it was one sweet machine. Forget about Stereophile ratings- they are meaningless. Everything gets recommended and are distinguished between different classes based on price. Trust your ears! FWIW, I also think Sim...
Sim Audio Moon 260D
Just put one in my system today. Quite nice. Not thin sounding at all. Has nice dynamic contrasts even at low level which sometimes is hard to pull off. No experience with the 260d as a transport only.
Pangea power cords
Love these cords. Changed over my whole system- integrated amp, CD, tuner, phono pre, turntable. Spent less on these 5 cords then what I sold one Cardas power cord for. And I absolutely feel I have given up nothing except the pretense. My search o...

A CD platyer that is s sonic match to an LP12?

Bryston 4bst vs. Proceed HPA2
For what it's worth, Revel used the HPA-2 amp when 'voicing' the F30 speakers. The F30's are a bit forward, as is the Bryston. The Proceed leans the other way, so while the Bryston will excel in some set-ups, paired with the F30's, neither will sh...
