Walking Into A Brick & Mortar High End Audio Store
The reason to have a brick and mortar store is to draw customers into your store. Browsing is part of the experience of a conventional store. I'm sure we all experienced walking into a store not really intending to buy anything but wound up purcha...
great headphone amplification in vintage gear?
I seem to recall a Mac unit, either from the 70's or 80's that boasted that's its headphone section was powerful enough to drive some speakers.
Once again, impressed by NAD
"The other conclusion is that the Pass integrated is not as good as you thought or your systems resolution is in some way compromised"I'll say no to option one as years back when I had a Madrigal amp that needed service I once again temporarily us...
Thoughts on my Sim Moon 260D CD player
Still view it as an excellent cd spinner. The 650d uses the Sabre DAC chip while the neo 260d still uses a TI DAC chip. I know Sim Audio implies it's close to a 650d, but DAC wise, it's closer to the original 260d.
To remove the belt or not remove the belt that is the question
I bought my first belt drive turntable 37 years ago. I have never removed the belt when not in use (except if I was moving). I replace a belt every several years and gave never been the worse for it.
vacuum tube shelf life
Just like milk- look for the expiration date on the carton
Worth doing upgrades to my W4S DAC-1?

Father's Day For An Audiophile
Oh and she just filed for divorce so should I even care?
Father's Day For An Audiophile
No, I've never gotten any audio gear as a present. I did get a camera for my 35th birthday but gee, I paid the credit card bill so was that really a gift from my wife? And I did get a watch for my 50th but I seem to recall I paid for that too.
Component break in
I did lower the gain- that helped a lot
180W 4ohm Bryston amp too much for 150W 4ohm SF?
No safety issues- it's easier to fry a speaker with too little power than with too much power
DAC significantly better than a w4s DAC2-DSDse?
Other than from a manufacturer promoting his own product you've not actually bitten an answer. W4S gear is top notch- if you like what you hear go for another one
Naim Nait 5i Assistance Please
I had a Naim Nait for about a week or so. I was replacing an NAD receiver, and as much as I wanted to like the Naim, it went back. Strident - that's what I would call it. Maybe in an all Naim system it works but for me it was a bust.
How do I hook uo headphones to my system?
Thank You! This was a very enjoyable project- the headphone amp was kit built (and yes, I've already rolled tubes and made one mod and contemplating a 2nd as found on the very active Bottlehead forum) and the switch box was totally from scratch! I...
Sell quality turntable to buy top CD player?
You've got a small LP collection and if you're not buying more, go for the CD spinner. Have you considered a DAC to you present CD player?
