SACD is VERY confusing I have the following device that takes the SACD DSD signal from my cheap OPPO player and decodes the DSD. GeerFab Audio D.BOB Digital BreakOut Box – Upscale Audio This DSD is them sent to my Schitt Yggi+ Less is More DAC via SPDIF. I think that ...
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH HATE FOR THE HIGH END GEAR ON AUDIO GEAR? I can afford a lot of audio gear; however, I have learned that you do not need to spend as much money as I did in the past to get comparable and sometimes better sound. First thing for good sound is the room. Cables make a difference in most gea...
New Generation Class D - AGD Audion Mkiii upgrade As someone who owned the first modded LSA Voyager and now the PeachTree GAN1 (also modded). My preference is the GAN1. I finally got the GAN1 back playing tunes (needed another streamer). It is such a good amp. I only use it now for my RAAL CA-1a ...
New pre-amplifier? In the case, of DELL they want to make sure the machines that are returned do not come back again to them again. I think there is better testing on these refurbished machines than the new ones. Of course, some returns are not because of failures ...
New pre-amplifier? @charles1dad Yes. When you get a computer laptop, server, etc from DELL for example. It comes from the assembly line in Mexico or maybe China. They do only rudimentary QA on that line (likely after final assembly). If that machine is returned to D...
ultraRendu dropouts at DSD512 and 768kHz I had an issue with my OpticalRendu and I resolved it by moving my ROON Core server so that it was directly attached to my router. Great thing about the Rendu's is that they do not need to be connected to the music server. I used to have my ROON ...
New pre-amplifier? I tend to like refurbished products from the manufacturer over brand new. For example, computers are something I buy refurbished over new if given the option. I learned this from my IT buddies. I have purchased some audio gear that was listed as ...
Do you think driver “break in” is real? The manufacturers of some of my gear have indicated on the manual how the gear will change sonically after X amount of hours.
My High End Audio Gear As A Long Term Investment!!! I am not at the old age level yet but I have also finished my gear, with 2 systems and 2 headphones. Looking back at my buying and selling history over the last 5 years on A'gon, USAM, and Head-fi, shows a crazy amount of gear. I no longer can s...
Speaker Cable Recommendation WyWires Diamond is a very good cable and there is one on USAM for $2500. I also own it and I am happy with it. I think the Audience FrontRow (also own) is a bit better, but you can get the WyWire used for much cheaper than a used FrontRow.
A reasonably priced DAC upgrade from Schiit Gumby The Schitt Yggi+ Less is More is now my reference DAC in my office system. It is the best sounding DAC I have owned. I tossed the shipping box so I cannot sell it even if I wanted to. Other DACs include (all these DACs are in the price range speci...
Have you upgraded from a Freya? BTW - I had the LS50 with the CODA #8 and it was very good in my small office. However, the LS50 Meta is much better to my ears. Most people are saying it was only a minor improvement. In my system I thought it was a big improvement. I did not wan...
Have you upgraded from a Freya? @zlone Glad you liked the LA4. The Serene is a touch warmer and maybe preferred by some, such as this guy who compares the Serene to the HPA4 (same as LA4). Review Holo Audio Serene Level 1 preamplifier - Tastefully Serene - Alpha Audio (alpha-au...
Looking for intermediate-step Streamer: better than BS Node and not @ Bartok level pricing I have the latest Schitt Yggi+ Less is More DAC. I used to have a Lumin X1, which has a great streamer, and a very good DAC. I found the latest Schitt Yggi+ LM better on top end than the X1 DAC with everything else about the same. The top end had ...
CODA amp No.8, Bryston 4B3, or Ayre VX-5 Twenty @henrynguyentx I had the CODA #8 v1 with the hard to drive Thiel CS3.7 speakers and the V1 was more than up to the task. It also has more Class A vs V2 and V3. If you want the CODA #8 V2 or V3 you can may also want to consider the Sanders Magtech... |
