Microphone recommendation for recording 2 channel demos @OP - The 5 does have the advantage of recording to SD, rather than micro SD cards. But any of them or the Sony will give you better sound and more editing flexibility than a smartphone. Best of luck with your video/recording project.
Microphone recommendation for recording 2 channel demos @OP - the H4 is probably the sweet spot for what you want to do.
1200GR upgrade tonearm or table? @OP - the GR2. I suspect that there will be a similar update to the 1200G, in time.
1200GR upgrade tonearm or table? @OP You should really listen to the new delta sigma drive version of the GR and also the 1200G before deciding to trash the arm on your existing deck.
What exactly is PRaT??? @Soix - PRaT is what you get when you engineer a sound that is harmonically lean and emphasises the leading edge of the dynamic envelope. Being a drummer, unless you are a really bad drummer (which I'm sure you aren't), I'm no doubt you are perfec...
??? How Much Would You Spend ??? Systems are called systems for a reason so they should be built holistically - a chain is only as good as it’s weakest link etc.
Physically Comfortable Headphones @patrickdowns - yes, I have had 650s - the 800s have the same very neutral tonal character but are a little more interesting to listen to.
New Speakers under consideration - but I’m afraid @OP There are a lot of used Wilson speakers around because people upgrade to newer Wilsons. On B&W's - there's no guarantee you will like the latest generation better - they are certainly not a speaker I would choose for chamber music. Magic...
Physically Comfortable Headphones I also find it difficult to get headphones to fit me. Two that I've found to be comfortable are Sennheiser HD800 - much more comfortable than the 650s and extremely light. Audeze LCD-XC - I need closed back phones for recording and while the XCs...
Pass labs krell parasound amps @OP. The X250.8 is a great amp. It should work well with your Levinson pre. One other brand worth looking at is Sim Moon which might fit your sonic preferences well.
Microphone recommendation for recording 2 channel demos @OP. If you are prepared to do a little post production work, one of the Zoom H series recorders, which are an all in one solution incuding stereo mics, are a superb value/sq solution. You'll have to sync the audio to you video though. If that's ...
Magico speakers too clinical and fatiguing? The inherent character of Magicos is on the analytical slightly dry side. The latest models are less so. The are somewhat similar to B&Ws in that regard but their frequency response is more accurate than the latter. However some people love t...

Pass Labs XA30.5 Fuse Issue/Question The meter on the Pass XA amplifiers measures bias current. Under normal circumstances it should barely move at all, and then only when playing very dynamic music at high levels. If the amp was shorted it may have incurred permanent damage and so e...
Grounding an Integrated Amplifer @OP As Fuzztone says above, the ground connection from the turntable grounds the TT chassis and tonearm to the chassis ground of the amplifier. It is a completely separate grounding system from the mains power supply to the turntable's motor. |
