low bass response
@jw944ts    You want to measure from your listening position. Bass response will vary from location to location in your room due to room modes.   If you've tried moving the speakers and/or your listening position and you know your gear's frequ...
low bass response
Like @ozzy62 posted, you need to quantify what you mean by 'low bass response'. To do that, use a test tone to find out the bass extension you're currently getting and how even that response is. I've used the following audio test from Audiocheck i...
Solar-powered battery running my system
The quality of power output from the Powerwall is governed by the inverter. It may not be that clean. The Enphase IQ7+ microinverters on my PV array output AC at no greater than 5% THD. There’s also the recommendations per IEEE 519 on THD in power...
MCintosh MA7900 USB Driver causing Windows10/11 Crash
Hmm... that's odd. Even CEntrance says that Windows 10 includes a USB audio driver - link. Maybe you can try the driver on their website if you still have issues going forward.
DSD and aliasing?
Just a technical note - the ultrasonic noise is quantization noise from the 1 bit sample size, not noise from aliased images.   From some of the graphs I've seen of the noise shaping for DSD64 it starts to rise right around 25 kHz. Nobody is goi...
MCintosh MA7900 USB Driver causing Windows10/11 Crash
Try uninstalling the McIntosh driver and use the Microsoft driver included with Windows. Most likely the driver is trying to call a function that has changed with the Windows 10 / 11 kernels.   Follow these instructions about uninstalling driver...
MCintosh MA7900 USB Driver causing Windows10/11 Crash
Are you using the built-in USB audio driver for Windows 11? Try this - go into Device Manager and find the MA7900 (should be under 'Sound, video and game controllers'). Right click then select 'Properties', then 'Driver' tab. See if 'Microsoft' i...
Integrated amps for lean speakers
I actually lowered the REL crossover setting to about 50 Hz from 80 when I switched to the Xplorers which advertise 30 Hz v. the Paradigms that were at 70Hz.   You might want to rethink that and increase the crossover frequency. Hi-Fi News mea...
Bryston Bdp-3
It looks like the BDP-3 supports UPnP and AirPlay. On my Android phone, I use BubbleUPnP to cast YouTube from my phone to whichever UPnP renderer I need. For an iOS device, I use AirPlay.
MCintosh MA7900 USB Driver causing Windows10/11 Crash
Have you tried using the MA7900 without installing the McIntosh driver? On Windows 10/11 you usually don't need a driver.
Integrated amps for lean speakers
Depending on the impedance curve of the speaker (which I can't find a graph of) a tube amp may not be the best choice as it could potentially boost the midbass but also exacerbate the treble issue.   If you haven't already, you'll probably want ...
Which device makes for a better digital music source? Computer or streamer?
I use a 2014 Mac mini w/ Kodi in the living room system and a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ w/ moOde in the basement system. I haven’t heard a compelling reason to change either out. The Mac stores all the music in a shared folder which is mounted in moOde. I...
Using an older upsampling dac with a new Bluesound Node
Looks like the digital inputs support up to 24 bit / 96 kHz.
Marantz SACD 30n USB (not USB-DAC) input
I don't have the 30n but I can try to help. Do you get an error message when trying to play back files?
Empyrean Headphones/Sennheiser HDVD 800 + 'what DAC'?
@labelman  Yes - the HDVD 800 includes a DAC. I'd have a listen to that first before making any changes. After all, it was designed to work with Sennheiser headphones.
