Dynaudio Contour S5.4 or Confidence C2 I personally prefer the confidence line. I own the c1's and demoed the C2's in my home. If I could afford the upgrade I would do it. The confidence series is more open - detailed with a better soundstage (both in width and depth) in my opinion. I ...
Fuse blown on RB-1080 with new pair of DynAudio's Maybe see if you can find a higher quality fuse than the rat shack type. There have been a couple of threads regarding the quality of those fuses. Stick with the same amperage and voltage rating though until you can determine if its just an amp pr...
Totem Model 1 Signatures best speaker cables I agree with your observation regarding the red dawn speaker cables. I recently had the chance to borrow a nordost demo case (for 6 weeks) which had the blue havens through the freys. What I noticed was as I moved up the line was the high end soun...
Tube blows Amplifier fuse....causes? I sent the tube back to the manufacturer's agent and they say it tests fine. They will replace it though.Did they test it on a tester or in a real circut that may push it to the limit? Testers rarely test at different maximum loads. Is the bad tube...
Bridge integrated amp and amp Personally I would get a pre and sell the integrated. With my Bryston B100 I used the pre out with a 3bsst amp. My integrated got hotter than normal. I figure with no biasing on the amp section of the B100 it was powered on at full out. On the oth...
Bass: Dynaudio Confidence C2 vs Contour S5.4 As a C1 owner too I'm considering upgrading to the C2's for some more of that Dyn bass. Currently I have a Rel B3 and although it integrates well it just isn't that Dyn bass. I would say when I demoed the C2's in my home I got a lot more bass than...
Anyone using battery backup For computers I have had good luck with Tripp-lite, Apc, and Liebert. Of course I would not use any of those for audio equipment. Battery replacement is a consideration when looking to buy one. Apc is the easiest I've worked with so far.
Totem The One or Dynaudio Contour S1.4 Last week I had heard the Naim 5i with Dyn Sapphires and later the super nait with the C2's. All I can say is I'm glad my dealer has carpeting or I would have had to to get stitches in my chin when my jaw hit the ground. Excellent synergy and very...
White noise No unless you overdrive the signal. You may even notice after playing for an hour or so an improvement in the sound from your speakers. I use a full sweep 10hz - 20khz cd buried in the white and pink noise. In my system the change is very minor.
Dynaudio Audience 72 vs. 72SE Whats different? I'm not familiar with the audience except I had some loaner 42's. They are out of production but found this on Dyn's web site.http://www.dynaudio.com/eng/systems/lines/audience/72se.phpEither should be just fine for your room.
Krell SACD Standard: grinding CDs prob.solved OverhangFuses ares pieces of wire designed to blow/burn when the current is overloaded for its rated specs. I have heard of fuseistors (resistive fuses) but never have seen them in use (I've been repairing computers for 34 years not audio equipmen...
Krell SACD Standard: grinding CDs prob.solved Fuses are there for the protection of the electronics. The only way a fuse LIMITS current is to blow. I think something else resolved the noise/heat issue. For grins and giggles did you put back the 500ma fuse to see if the heat/noise issue comes ...
Troubleshooting help please Sure sounds like the volume control. You mentioned it does not happen with your other preamp. Do you have a second system you could put the questionable preamp in. That would tell you for sure if it happens there too. Have you tried maybe spraying...
Esoteric DV-50 or Meridian G-08.2 CD Player?? I agree with Kennyt. I had demoed the Esoteric sa-10 and found that poorly recorded cds sounded terrible but the good recordings were great. I think that's why Kennyt has both players. Me I went and bought the G08 (can't afford both but wish I cou...
And the "Best" Dynaudio monitor is...? As a C1 owner I would say yes. Contour s1.4's and Special 25's may have a tad more bass but to me both are also more forward sounding with a tad more 'punch' but lack the transparency - imaging and detail that the C1's have. You pay for it also. E... |
