Music Server format? A Bluesound Node 2 replaced my well-appointed Mac mini back in April. I don't miss it one bit (pun?) in my audio system.
Music Server format? dBpoweramp has a setting for "uncompressed" flac, which is basically wav with really good metadata. I've used this since it was released for Mac. Highly recommended.
Two DACs for one system? What @jond said. The DAC in the Node 2 is pretty good all by it's self but certainly can be bested if you want to spend the money. I've not heard your CDP but no doubt it can also be bested with an external DAC. I would recommend becoming very fam...
Bluesound Node2 I replaced my Mac mini with a Node 2 in April of this year and I haven't look back since. The on-board DAC (Burr Brown PCM5122) sounds just fine if you want to stop there. I have the Schiit Bifrost Multibit and the Chord Qute EX to play around wit...
Top Ten Rock Vocalists Bryan Ferry and Jon Anderson both deserve a mention.
Whats a good all around digital cable for under $250. I only need half a meter. For optical I'm fond of Lifatec glass (which passes 24/192 flawlessly) and for wire I like the Black Cat Silverstar 75.
Is it in my head only? I recently replaced my aging Mac mini with a Bluesound Node 2. It's networked with the latest iteration of Apple's Airport Extreme and I'm very happy with the result. The sound quality is every bit as good, if not better, than my Mac (2012, i7, 16...
Auralic Aries Mini vs Bluesound Node ll vs Sonos FWIW, I purchased a Bluesound Node 2 about a month ago. It replaced my Mac mini (2012, i7, 256GB SSD, 16GB RAM) and I couldn't be happier. It has equaled, if not surpassed, the mini in every aspect, including sound quality. Even the onboard DAC is...
"High End" Bluetooth Receivers - Snake Oil? Mapman .. various really, some friends have Android phones and others, like me, use an iPhone. Apple only does Bluetooth 4.0 and not APTX but the W4S gizmo makes quite a difference either way IMO. Very handy during a party or casual get together! ...
"High End" Bluetooth Receivers - Snake Oil? I purchased a Wyred 4 Sound bLINK reclocker when it was released last December and I'm still amazed at what it does for Bluetooth. No snake oil there either, just good engineering.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? Hey man, great review! I've often thought if/when the time comes, I would move up the line to the 2000's. BTW, your comment about accuracy is one often associated with the Ohm sound. The hyper-etched detail en vogue today, which can be fun, often ...
Reference 3A or Mark & Daniel or... Duevel Planets? Haven't thought about those since they were first released. The design intrigues me (surprise .. I like omni's) but I never had a chance to hear them, or rather, I never took a chance on purchasing them to audition. I hope you'll s...
Reference 3A or Mark & Daniel or... polarin .. just saw this and I realize this thread is a few months old but I'm curious which (if any) speakers you decided on. Rarely do I see Mark & Daniel mentioned, never mind in the same thread as Ohm. I purchased my Rubys used at a great ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? Hey guys .. a while back I posted about Amarra Symphony and its Dirac component (iRC).https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/ohm-walsh-micro-talls-who-s-actually-heard-em/post?postid=162...At the time there was no Dirac stand-alone option for OSX ...
Are Ohm-Walsh micros and 1000 series disrespected because of omni-directional design?? I agree with Mapman. My Maggies and Mark & Daniel Rubys are definitely brighter than my MicroWalsh Talls (circa 2004) but there is plenty of detail without any of the hardness. I'm always surprised audiophiles dismiss Ohm speakers so easily an... |
