These seem a bit pricey $$$
One of the things I like about my oft mentioned Klipsch Heresy IIIs is they’re NOT another "tower with drivers and a tweeter in a box" 89db or so speaker. I’m simply bored with the sameness of the thousands of these things out there (and I’ve owne...
Anyone else grateful that they got hooked on this crazy addiction
"Yes, & in the long run it’s actually cheaper than heroine." I agree about heroines...all that time spent hanging out at stage doors, the stalking, endless celebrity magazines cluttering up the single wide, the abandonment by all friends...a f...
Beware of NAD M3 Fire Hazard
The big takeaway for me in this discussion is that I MUST remove all of the explosives I have stashed around my hifi amps...I'm going to put them in my stove.
Subwoofer insight.
For me it's the extra bass "range" that my subs provide as my main speakers have very balanced bass to their obvious limits (about 58hz)...the subs just make it all more believable.
Klipsch Heresy 4?
Based on my experience (which is exactly like yours assuming you're me) the Heresy IIIs unapologetically do provide a high end experience that is as good as the gear driving 'em. Coherent and detailed. However, having just read an interview with A...
How much is "LOUD" still a reference point for some?
Bands...that was "bands."

Extreme heavy bans often sound better on their mellow acoustic tours.
Cartridge recommendation for classical listening
I recently put an Ortofon Quintet Red on a Linn Akito and after some break-in it sounds astonishingly good, and not music genre specific one iota as befits any good cartridge (or any gear for that matter). I'm looking forward to exploring the rest...
Subwoofer insight.
I started my REL experience a while back with a used (200 bucks) Q150e 10" 150 watt little gem that works perfectly. I'm big on the "high level" Speakon connection as long runs of RCAs is just silly to me...balanced if available would be fine as i...
Stereo Preamp to pair with Carver
Hard to beat a new Schiit "Freya +" at 900 bucks new. Nothing seems to come close.
More Dynamic Speakers Than Vienna Acoustic
Used or even new Klipsch Heresy IIIs should easily fit the budget...mine cost 1500 bucks new a couple of years ago.
REL subwoofer using only red cable not yellow per REL technical dept
I had a low level hum that was driving me nuts with checking tubes and various possible sources when finally I realized my 2 RELs weren't on the same page. One had the ground lifted with a little switch, the other has no switch...I lifted the grou...
Moving tube equipment
Remember, there are thousands of tube guitar amps in use all over the globe, shipped everywhere, ruthlessly dragged into clubs and rehearsal spaces often against their will, dropped from loading ramps like my 70s Twin Reverb (saved by its Anvil ca...
More Dynamic Speakers Than Vienna Acoustic
I'm a former Vienna Acoustics Bach owner...a great looking speaker with a "meh" tone quality...The only criteria that elevates (or at least separates) any speaker's "dynamics" over the endless numbers of "drivers in a box" 88 to 90db efficient spe...
Axe to grind know it alls
Stating a dislike for those with an axe to grind with a long post complaining about that is axe grinding.
