Most Musical 6NS7 tube for a Preamp? Why no Schiit? The Freya is world class.
Schiit Freya+(Plus) In any great system everything played on it sounds different from anything else, as it should...suffice to say that the sources are all equally superb sounding, and I've done an instant comparison using the same music...streamer, LP, and CD playi...
Schiit Freya+(Plus) My Freya (original version) has never sounded boomy with any of the piles of tubes I've used including the JJs, Tung Sols (new production), original Russian "mystery" tubes, Sylvania "Chrome domes," etc...I prefer NOS GEs in the thing and the soun...
Recommended SET amp and speakers to 20k Dragon Inspire QMB-25 mono amps (made by Dennis Had) cost around 4 grand a pair new, and add whatever model of high efficiency Klipsch Heritage speakers you prefer as lately a few have been redisigned...Heresy IV, Forte III, and Cornwall IV (102db...
Full tube amp under $1600 Or maybe stick with Jolida/Black Ice...I owned a "factory upgraded" Jolida 502P power amp for years and it sounded great...only sold it when I got into a single ended amp with very efficient speakers, but back then I had researched everything I co...
Perfect Path Total Contact no longer? Just pick which of your loved ones is expendable and hey...SEND 'EM OUT THERE. Get that economy started and fill up those hospitals with people who can't afford health insurance, and minorities who are already getting Covid-19 at far higher rates ...
To horn or not to horn Heresy IIIs and a couple of REL subs does the trick for me. And my single ended tube amp has only 4 tubes so tube rolling is inexpensive (and fun, my preamp has 4 matching tubes but not expensive). Note that before I started looking around for eff...
Please help a newbie Choose, whats the best preamplifier for $1000 or less used It's not likely you could buy a better sounding preamp than a Schiit Freya + tube preamp, certainly nothing with the features and flexibility they offer, and they're 900 bucks or so brand new. I'd try one of those (I own an earlier version and it'...
Break in time that extends to months or maybe even years!! Always buy two of everything and only use one so you have a non broken-in reference. Besides, then you always have a spare...
How is the Speakon connector wired for REL sub? The ground is lifted on both my RELs so no hum...one REL actually has a ground lift switch, and when lifted they both need to be lifted and that does the trick. I prefer the angled Speakon plugs...use em in pro gear also but many don't know the an...
speakers or room??? I've used the simple ear wash system for decades...put the hydrogen peroxide based goo in yer ears, let it burble for 10 minutes or so, douche it out with several squirts from the rubber squeeze ball...do it all again if needed...works and is safe.
Schiit Freya+ Tube Recommendations I like Viva tubes as they're sort of local for me (and thetubestore.com), but also look at Ebay sellers with positive ratings and return policies, and you can find NOS GEs (my current fave) and others for the same cost as new Tung Sols (I have the...
Can I go wrong with Stillpoint Ultra Mini anti-vibration isolation feet? Vibrapods...got 'em under everything in my rack (even tiny ones under small items) and under my speakers on my wood floor...these things seem to accomplish what the far more expensive gizmos from various companies try to do (use the "feel it" appr...

Should I be able to hear a 4Hz difference in my speakers? Totem’s specs say "in room" meaning that 28hz (listed as 30hz on another "spec sheet" near the manual download page) rating requires reinforcement from room boundaries. Every speaker I’ve owned over the last several years have been positioned away... |
