At What Age Does An Audiophile Buy His Last Amp? Being satisfied with what you have isn't age specific any more than wanting something else is. Not growing intellectually or desiring anything new isn't a sign of age, it's a sign of laziness and a lack of intellectual curiosity that's merely sad....
What's your view on blind testing? Having a group of sophisticated listeners blind test gear over weeks is the way to go. However feeding, housing, bathing, and generally putting up with them during the test period can be challenging, and you merely end up with a group of grumpy, w...
Entry-level speaker cables A fave cable score is a used but new condition AQ VDM5 solid silver S/PDIF cable I bought for peanuts...not sure if it sounds any better than other stuff...hard to tell, and I've tried! (digital cable comparisons...not easy)...but it's silver, hea...
Entry-level speaker cables My "per foot" comment was innacurate and should be ignored (8tc is not AQ Type 8), but the purchase still lacks shabbiness. Note that after messing around with spades, bananas, Speakon's, guitar phone plugs (which actually do go back to old teleph...
Volume affected by uneven lengths of spker cable?? I've used odd length speaker cables in the past (forced by gear location issues since these were huge cables) and it made zero audible difference. I still have 'em in my basement Cable Museum.
Entry-level speaker cables Based on the $25 per foot calculation, I saved $340 (68%) on my used type 8 pair. Not too shabby.

how can I make the back wall transparent? All evidence of my early career has been sealed until 2050.
When did you know you're different? Kubrick. Worth getting the DVD.
Entry-level speaker cables I've used Type 4 also (and have MANY other AQ bits in my basement "cable museum", including a pair of old reddish cables packed with 16 individually wrapped stranded conductors and thick as a garden hose) and think they're great. I'm into the "sol...
how can I make the back wall transparent? Those days are long gone, but no bug could survive the music we played back then. I do miss the ability to sleep on the ceiling.
When a Reviewer "likes" something Sitting in one of many disparate seats with thousands of figgity humans listening to an orchestra, weirdly, will always be nothing like being at home with your little hifi. Who knew? And does anybody adjust their senses when at home, or do you mer...
When did you know you're different? Didn't the movie Clockwork Orange make Beethovan famous?
Entry-level speaker cables By the way...the 10' AQ Type 8s were less than 200 bucks used, and looked new.
Entry-level speaker cables Used cables are AWESOME...I scored a great sounding pair of AQ Type 8 from somebody for peanuts, as well as several pairs of great ICs here and there...you can sometimes get "demo" cables from high end shops also...consider them "pre broken-in." |
