Which REL sub, R528 or B2
My used RELQ150e cost me $200 a couple of years ago, and remains my all time "bargain component score" champ, about which I am (maybe annoyingly) smugly satisified. Note that speaker "speed" is another one of those psuedo techno terms that means n...
Which REL sub, R528 or B2
Bol1972...Again with the lecture, and utterly missing my point. I respectfully suggest you carefully READ posts and try to comprehend what they say before yammering away with your self important declarations, as they make you look foolish and slig...
Which REL sub, R528 or B2
Bol1972...I don't give a rat's ballsack about what you sold, and condescension and dismissal of other's opinions make you sound like my Uncle Dick. After over 40 years as a professional musician, professional live sound technician, audio fan, and ...
Which REL sub, R528 or B2
I have a REL Q150E that is anything but "slow"...just a beautiful sounding little front firing sub that works really well. I shall continue to defend it regardless of the naysayers! Perception of "slowness" from a sub likely has to do with placeme...
Can u make interconnect from speaker cables
Ask a guitar player...and the answer is no...too noisy.
2 REL T-5 subwoofers vs. one Rythmik 12
Low bass isn't so directional given some distance from the sub, and it all entirely depends on specific room acoustics...my expert opinion.
Sub placement
Risking redundancy: For my tastes the low notes generated by the sub are part of the musical whole, and I wouldn't hear a proper mix with my head on the floor in the corner. It's easy to get an accurate, musical main/sub blend in a listening space...
Tubes/SS Power Amps?
Now yer talkin'.
old newbie
I had 1Bs years ago and loved 'em! Truly one of the great bargains in audio. I'm a Jolida fan these days and I bet one of their integrateds would sound great...and 1Bs are efficient.
Tubes/SS Power Amps?
Are Class D amps less expensive to make? Seems like they are (more power for the buck). I used a great little Class D Ampeg bass amp recently, and it was amazing. I still think tubes are more engaging (and suit my low threshold of gear entertainme...
Entry-level speaker cables
I think there's a point where you start assuming the cables you've assembled are working. You can then stop thinking about them (except wondering when to clean the contacts), and start worrying about needle age, running thick copper wires from you...
Tubes/SS Power Amps?
I'm of the "first watt" school...if an amp is well designed and used properly it can sound amazing, regardless of the wattage, cost, or type. Speaker impedance matching is key of course, and if you expect to fill a gigantic room to sweaty disco le...
Tubes/SS Power Amps?
Driving my tube amp is one of the places where it really differs from SS amps I've owned...it gets rounder with a still listenable tone at highish levels, and that works for me somehow...my sub is SS though, and it just has to be turned down to co...
Sub placement
Integrating a sub into a system is utterly room and system specific so rendering suggestions on this is tough. Another reason why I can't get the "put your head where the sub sounds best" thing is that it takes the main speakers out of the picture...
Jolida 502 KT120 tube swapping
I was advised (and my manual recommends) to bias any sort of tube to the stock 500mv and it seems to work fine. There is 50mv wiggle room built in.
