450 Pound Monobloc Amplifier My Jolida does 60WPC at 50 lbs and I like it. I've seen those Boulder amps at Goodwin's and they're adoreable. I think anything that expensive should be gigantic as it makes the owner feel better about everything although I do want to see the vide...
Speaker Spikes - do the shake test I like to think I'm at the forefront of the Decoupling Movement, whether I am or not. I do tell people I am though, as it adds to my enigmatic demeanor.
Thiel CS1.7 loudspeaker NOS 1.6s are selling for around $2700 or so depending on the cabinet finish...used ones seem to be all over the map from maybe $600 to $1200. 4 grand sticks the 1.7 in a very competitive zone...PMC, Usher, Focal, etc., all have some bitchen' speak...
What is a better route, tube or SS preamp? I'm not sure my SS pre to tube amp sounds better or worse than any other well assembled gear pile, but I've been having so much fun with my rig I don't care. I'd love to get a tube preamp eventually but the ones I like (with balanced outs and ins)...

New Acurus and Aragon amps. Anyone hear them yet? I had no idea there were British Ferraris.
Bi amp will it work Oh. OK then.
Bi amp will it work It will only work fine if you can control the amp driving the tweeters...they only require a fraction of the wattage required by the low end, and if you drive 'em with 200 watts you can expect to blow them immediately.
What is a better route, tube or SS preamp? Nonesensical (nonsencical?) butt: "acoustic music requires ambience retrival that rock doesn't even have"...uh...OK then.
What is a better route, tube or SS preamp? Also, tube amps and their owners are more fun. Clearly.
What is a better route, tube or SS preamp? Again, I'm mystified by nonesensical suggestions regarding "classical or jazz" specific gear, as that assumes other forms of music are somehow less polite and require some meatier form of support. The slam of Mahler is just as intense as the slam ...
You are there-they are here In my experience (mostly as a musician) recording drums has always been interesting. It often takes forever to get them set up, but soundstage placment is merely a matter of stereo panning. By carefully panning each drum mic you can put 'em anywhe...
You are there-they are here If you have an accurate system working properly everything you hear sounds a little, or a lot, dissimilar relative to soundstaging. Acoustic pianos ALL sound different, engineers can make drummers sound properly in a nice area or 67 feet wide (did...
about the kt 120 tube I'm using a matched pair of "tubestore" Preferred 7025s that they source from China and they're great.
about the kt 120 tube I also think it's strange the Chinese haven't come up with a KT120 type, since the design is a gigantic (really...amazing) home run in tubeland, and has been around for a few years. I also would have expected some "gold pin extra cool with fancy w... |
