With the reviews I can't imagine not trying the KEF LS50. Besides, it looks really cool.
Budget Front Ported Bookshelf Recommendations
Get a used pair of KEF Q10s (or a newer version...Q15s?)...rubber surrounds, great sound for small bucks. I use a pair for studio monitors, bought them new years ago and they've continued to work flawlessly. Used to be made in UK, for whatever tha...
To Couple or Decouple?
I am a follower of the Anti Spike Movement, due to having tortured wood floors for years and then discovering that relatively inexpensive Vibrapods placed under my speakers make them sound better, in my room using my ears. Or, you could simply get...
Why aren't new vacuum tubes as good as old ones?
I had a sloppily made Psvane pair that I sent back, but that was cosmetic really (on one tube) and it was a matched pair...they did seem to sound OK. The next pair was better, and have remained in their sockets. I wonder what the number of bad 120...

I feel better already.
Why aren't new vacuum tubes as good as old ones?
There is some subject dodging going on here...like regarding KT120 tubes. Do they have badly fired getters? Why do many feel they are great sounding, even compared to NOS whatever? Why have my 120s lasted 2 years of daily abuse and still show no s...
So......what do you use under your speakers?
I have the entire state of Massachusetts under my speakers. Wait...North America...yeah...that's it.
New KT150 tubes?
I may have mentioned someplace that I've seen 150s on Ebay for around 300 bucks for a quad...that seems almost reasonable.

What's that sound? We're all decomposing.
New KT150 tubes?
I think the "don't ask ARC" thing was about protecting the sensitive ARC people from further stress, as Hifigeekl is nothing if not compassionate. I, however, am not. I read in a Brit hifi mag last night that 150s are a "drop in" replacement for 1...

If you need more than 300 high current watts for ANY speaker, that is one friggin' inefficient speaker. So...the witness has not answered the question...what speaker are you using? Well? Your honor...this witness is to be held in contempt!
Why aren't new vacuum tubes as good as old ones?
I confess I use Mullard CV4024s, but mostly because the JAN Phillips 12AT7s they replaced self destructed after about a month, and I like the "start-up flash" the Mullards display...we need more tubes with that start-up flashing...it's exciting. N...
How to add a Subwoofer to 2 channel stereo setup?
Wrongo bongo...I use a single channel summing REL and there is no phase cancellation at all. None. Zero. Also, I listen to modern recordings all the time (especially acoustic jazz trios lately) and the bass is usually NOT dead center...often it's ...
7 months in and still loving these...

Love my old REL Q150e...100% behind the REL concept...signal from the amp, leave the main speakers alone, etc. RELs can be amazing and lead to a better life with more general happiness, cleaner dishes, and sudden unexpected financial wealth.
