XLR or RCA? I used a new pair of balanced cables into a decidedly non balanced but XLR friendly power amp, and they sounded like crap. Seriously...replaced them with much better XLR cables and all is well (although in this case I could be using single ended c...
Has anybody tried using single solid core cables? Try hooking your cables up backwards...all hell breaks loose, the cat explodes, and music becomes an unlistenable heap of cacophony rendering the listener on the floor curled into the fetal position wimpering, "stop, please stop."
Do you run a high end power cord on your sub? I can say with near certainty that Audioquest likely does not care one teeny bit what Bo thinks about anything. To think there is much, if any, performance disparity between well designed high end AC cables connected to subs is laughable, and disp...
Do you run a high end power cord on your sub? This discussion is rife with self promoting silliness regarding characteristics of power cables like "don't go high enough" and "speed"...we're talking about power cables, and these opinions seem to ignore what these things actually do, and do not...
Do I really need to upgrade to Rockport Atria ? That might be the most pathetic post ever. Seriously...unintentional perhaps...but still, amazing. I suggest, based on the evidence here, Heung...call it a day. Go quietly (!) into the night.
grills or no grills on your speakers..matters? Instead of grills, I've found that a small electric barbed wire fence around my speakers can keep the drivers safe...I found that using a moat full of piranhas was simply not practical, and the cats kept disappearing.
XLR or RCA? XLR balanced low impedence cable signals can run 100s of feet with ZERO noise.
XLR or RCA? I'm mystified that RCA and phone plugs are still around, but I have to accept it and use them daily...there may be an argument for RCAs taking up less space, but after many years of using XLR mic and balanced ins and outs of live sound mixers and ...
grills or no grills on your speakers..matters? I really don't need the grills on my Preludes as they do have screens on the tweeters...I dust the woofers from time to time as tiny dust particles do not deserve to ride around on my drivers. I put new grill cloth on my sub as it had been damaged...
grills or no grills on your speakers..matters? I use a pair of Silverline Preludes with grills off, but the sound is still pretty good with them on (parties, fear of driver poking). I have a beef with much of the speaker design world in that some drivers are very fragile and can be easily dent...
Thinking I need a Sub... I stuck a "chicken head" knob on the level pot of my REL as some stuff needs tweaking...not enought bass, way too much...etc. The purpose of that knob is to be able to tell where it is by feel since it faces toward the wall.
Emotiva xpa1 gen 2 with clsiizs I don't get the conversations regarding "larger rooms." It applies when I mix live shows (although I've found that most of the gear I use has so much headroom it works in large and small rooms) maybe, but are people putting their speakers at the e...
To Couple or Decouple? Vibrapods (or things like them) are MUCH less expensive than what I consider to be over-machined accessory porn (!) stuff like Stillpoints, and they accomplish the same thing...turning vibration into heat or at least decoupling direct speaker vibr...
Why aren't new vacuum tubes as good as old ones? It's fype.
Subwoofer connectivity question The REL "high level" input system is brilliant as it stays out of the way of existing hookups, the amp likely doesn't know it's there (puts a very high impedance load on the amp) and lets your mains remain unmolested...I spade my REL at the amp an... |
