Pro-Ject turntables
Message to Sumiko: Please send Shubert a 10.1, and also send one to me, and we will say nice things about it so you'll sell more of them...a "win win" I say...
Power supply for Cambridge Audio Azur 651P phono ?
They likely ran out of 'em and moved on. It was an Audio Advisor product supposedly designed by a perhaps "in demand" Peter Madnick (Constellation Audio), so I figure they simply finished the run and can't be bothered to redesign the thing. Cambri...
most clear, crisp sound power amps, monoblocks ?
Live sound is only relevant as a reference if unamplified...otherwise get a PA system and sit 100 feet from it. My current hifi system sounds great to me, but that's likely due to ear damage and personal taste developed from spending over 4 decade...
Power supply for Cambridge Audio Azur 651P phono ?
The 300 bucks or so "combined price" of my 640P/Pangea P100 make some very nice sounding analog. Seriously nice sounding. It surprises me that Audio Advisor isn't making an upgrade of the P100 to offer with the newer 651P and DacMagic stuff since ...
Pro-Ject turntables
I would like to find one of those 10.1s if only because it looks so dangerous, but my Linn Basik/Akito rig keeps chugging along...Sumiko Pearl, replaced/upgraded tonearm cable (rat bites in the original...seriously). I recently cleaned the dustcov...
What was your first 'hi-end' system?
1970 or something KLH Model 20 system...the one without the tuner. Killed.
What great speakers can buy direct?
Tekton might have something for you.
Need help determining next upgrade - 3rd ATTEMPT
I agree with Al thet the "room treatment" or "speaker positioning" remedy can be easily tested by listening to the offending recordings while sitting closer to your speakers..."nearfield" as they say.
Need help determining next upgrade - 3rd ATTEMPT
I had midrange "congestion" issues with a pair of Vienna Bach speakers that mystified and bugged the bejeesus out of me...just a lack of clarity. In any case, it was out the door for them and in the door came a pair of Silverline Preludes that utt...
New KT150 tubes?
I only ask that the poster understands the posted words, and at least attempts to use them correctly...example: "potency" makes little sense in the context of this exchange, and "intentional parapraxis" is an oxymoron. My criticism in this case av...
New KT150 tubes?
Florid language notwithstanding, never underestimate the potential of good natured criticism of pretentiously misused words, sloppy grammar, and self indulgent obfuscation, as it can reveal the insecurity of the offender and the air pressure susta...
New KT150 tubes?
Does "valve denudation" involve removing the glass tube? That certainly would have impact on longevity, and thankfully there is little "prescience" in audio, especially since these tubes have been clearly vetted by others. My bet is that ARC has p...
The State of Jazz
The Charlap Bernstein is great to test your system's bass response...I have to turn my sub down a little for that album, but it sounds so damn good...
The State of Jazz
I worked with the Charlap trio a couple of years ago, and more recently did a few shows with Peter Washington in various configurations...brilliant...and Charlap's Bernstein kills me. By the way, Peter Washington enjoys single ended tube amps from...
The State of Jazz
The tendancy to declare that any creative period is "over" just mystifies me, although I realize people need to quantify and catalog stuff...as shallow and innacurate as that might be. I currently work mixing live jazz shows (and other shows)...lu...
