From an MHDT to an Audio Mirror, quick impressions
I'm holding on to the Orchid for now.  I still like it, will go in the garage system.  Future comparison, though possible, is so past "just different" not likely.   Newly engineered DAC IV.
BluSound Node and Node 2
baylinor, I’m keeping mine for now.  I just downloaded the upgrade and it went well.  A prior upgrade bricked my player.  The fix was to load the upgrade from a usb stick. Your post gave me courage.  Haven’t tried it for sound yet.  Multi use room.
Cartridge Alignment On Rega RP8
That’s a very unusual result - just not possible if you are using the protractor correctly.  I’m guessing you have the stylus on the example with the check mark next to it.  You should be using the blank parallel lines above the example.
VPI VTA Base question
My original (1995) jmw 10 has the arm pushed into the bell housing for a friction fit.  It can be less than seated and feel secure. The Fatboy looks similar.  Maybe get half a mm?
VPI VTA Base question
I see you replaced an “original” jmw 10” arm. If you are using the vpi jig for that arm it’s for a p2s of 250 mm and a true 10” arm. The fatboy 10” is actually 10.5”. Could that explain your situation?
VPI VTA Base question
That’s come up before on certain carts.  Could be worth a search.
VPI VTA Base question
Remove the arm and measure spindle center to pivot spike. It should be 258mm.  The 12” is 300.
Turntables
great reviews by Rega afficionados, but not much notice from the TT community at large I noticed that too.  The P10 is a spec marvel over the RP10 with a lower noise floor, better controlled arm resonance and tighter bass.  No denying it is mor...

I love my Soundcore Flare Mini.  ✅
Temporary Down Sizing - Integrated Amp Recommendations
I have the Luxman you mention going on two months now. I don’t know what the typical Japanese sound is. In the seventies it was a big, bold sound that the Luxman does well. It’s easy and engaging with big sound yet always quick and lively.
Balance control?
O-scopes are cheap these days, mine was about $225 on Amazon for a two channel. You can visually overlay the channels from a test record through the entire signal chain all the way to the speakers.  Easy to spot an imbalance.
Dr. Feickert Turntable
I purchased a used Luxman a month or so ago. The seller brought it over and we got to talking turntables. He recently purchased the Volare and I asked what he thought. Giant “meh”. I was stunned. He preferred his old Rega. That’s with his new upgr...
A trick with Scotch Whisky
Are you sampling?  21, 22, 3, 4...52!  : )
Transients hurting my ears on hifi solid state amps
Thank you.  I misquoted the power on the Pass though.  It’s 25 Wpc at 8 Ohms, 50 Wpc at 4.  The Crescendos are 6 Ohms.  The Pass is a very good amp.  It just wasn’t compatible.  Acoustic Zen recommends 50 Wpc minimum.
Interconnects - better before preamp or after preamp?
Here's an exception..  I had Nordost Frey 2 in both locations.  Swapping Tyr 2 between pre and power was much better.  Logic says once the signal deteriorates there's no getting it back and I agree.  It must be something else.  The Frey and Try ha...
