I have NOVA V's and I am not happy
Earlier this year I overcame similar symptoms - obvious non optimal  acoustics, glare and a weak lower register.  Fatigue at anything above background music.  It wasn't a speaker thing (AZ CrescendoII) or an amp thing (Pass Labs), it was a synergy...

Where does "MidFi" differ from "HiFi" or "LOFI"?
Midfi is where I am, Hifi is what I can't afford, Lofi is where I started.
What covid research can teach us about audio measurements.
Our brains do a lot of correction, making sound into what we expect to hear, given our experiences.  Some day we'll see how hard it works via brain scan.  That could be a key measurement in ear fatigue vs relaxation.   My analogy is another sense...

@decooney  Sounds like you and your six friends have fallen for the  Orchid.  I'm falling for the AM.  Best wishes on your audio journey.

Nothing changed out but the DAC.  Had the GE.  Have Millard installed.  Have used the Orchid with tube pre (Herron).  Now Have Luxman integrated.   Have tried cables.  It’s a good DAC for the money,  Has glare though.

The speakers and room sound fine with analog and the AM.  It’s the Orchid.  Sounds like your tube gear has a necessary synergy,

@decooney  Thanks.  Cutting to the chase, do you think all things being equal (room, cabling, source, gear, music, listener) will the caps eliminate glare from the Orchid when glare is not apparent with the AM or with analog?  Would be a must hav...

@decooney  Thanks for the heads up. I've tube rolled the Orchid including 6922 family to some effect.  Per my last post the biggest reason for moving on from the Orchid was predominant glare.  How is your output cap mod in that area?  It would be...

@chayro  My experience is limited to my original post but I'll try.   The AM recently opened up, bringing more feel to the venue. Powerful below 30 Hz or so (compared to the Orchid.) A big factor in choosing this DAC (by reputation) was electri...
Best Alignment Protractor?
@melm   I used  “Perfect theoretical alignment”  as meaning perfect overhang and zenith for the scheme used, knowing full well that the scheme is a compromise and not tracking perfectly at all places on the record.  No need to read more into it ...
Best Alignment Protractor?
@melm You’re not wrong but "perfect theoretical alignment" to the scheme used by Mint. That is, overhang and zenith, compromise that it is. Once you’ve used a Mint you know the reference.
Best Alignment Protractor?
I currently own a Feickert and a Mint.   The Feickert gets me quickly to where I can tweak by ear (and o-scope in my case) which is the final step in any alignment no matter how accurate.     Mint's protractor based on perfect theoretical alignm...
Counter weights on your turntable...another dirty little secret?
The supplied counterweight is a standard   "no. 183 for cartridges with weight between 7 - 14g" The chosen cartridge weighs 6.3 gm The online seller didn't do his homework.  It most likely wasn't  possible to get the weight any closer to the to...
